First Time Ultrasound, What kind is it typically?

I searched for this topic and I wasn't able to find an answer.
Tomorrow is my first ultrasound, 2nd appointment at 8wks2days. I was wondering if it was going to be transvaginal or abdominal? Or if I have any choice in the matter?

    Depends. They might try regular first, if they don't see what they need to they'll do a trans vag. It's not really a matter of choice, they'll want to do what's necessary to make sure they see what they need to.

    More than likely, it'll be both a transabdominal and transvaginal. As an OB ultrasound tech, I do transvaginal up to week 10. Your pictures will be a lot cuter!

    My first was a transvaginal and I was at 8 weeks 4 days! You definitely get to see the little one and see the heart beat
