This may seem ridiculous as I am certainly not a FTM, but with my first I lived 5 mins from the hospital, so I went when contractions were 2-3 min apart. My second was a scheduled C, and my third I had a scheduled natural induction.
Now I live 30 mins or more away from the hospital. My husband conveniently is working night shift all of this week and is 20-25 mins away from home in the opposite direction. My doctor said to get to the hospital early to make sure I can get an epidural... (This is part of our plan to slow down baby's descent as I had a bad tear last time, and also because I'm still technically a vba2c it makes for a quicker emergency c.)
The problem is ( and this happened with my third as well) I have ridiculous false labours. Last night for example contractions were 5 mins apart for 2.5 hours before they finally started spreading out longer in between. I can't run to L&D every single time this happens, call DH home from work, call someone to come watch my kids... Lol I have to be fairly sure that it's real!
I just don't know how far to push my luck given my history of complicated deliveries and the fact that my third was only a four hour labour.
I wish my water would just break and I'll know for sure! I plan on discussing with my doctor Wednesday when I see her, but in the mean time wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or concern and has any suggestions ?
Re: Not entirely sure when to go...
Knowing all the possible complications with a vbac, I might even ask if an induction would make more sense. I know you can't do pitocin, but there should be some other options so that you decrease your risk.
This.! Mine is too.! But thankfully he works at a surface only mine, no underground. But he works in the refinery so it'll take awhile for them to get out to him.
@bean8213 I have discussed it with my doctor briefly but she just gave me the standard get there early kinda thing. I plan on discussing it with her in more detail this week for sure.
With my third I had an induction by breaking my water and she was my successful Vba2c .Kind of hoping for that because I totally agree!! Easier to plan for my other kids care, DH's job and well getting there on time :-) .She won't let me go past my due date anyway as baby needs to be on the smaller side because of the complications from my previous delivery. She plans on doing a sweep Wednesday, but that could start things or do nothing.
