Pregnant after IF

Bleeding at 6 weeks

So I just started bleeding, bright red pretty much full flow :( The worst part is we invited my in-laws over for an early Mother's Day dinner. I was just finishing up cooking when it started. My husband tried to call them to tell them not to come, but they were already in the driveway. I'm laying in the bed waiting for my nurse to call back while he's stuck in an awkward situation. This is horrible...

Did you notice any tissue in the blood?
Are you on an vaginal medications? Because those can cause capillaries to burst and bleed for a bit without causing any damage.
Has the bleeding lessened? I had a HUGE flow two days ago, 6w, and completely thought I was losing my little one. It eventually turned to spotting and eventually stopped all together 6 hours later. We went in the next day for a u/s and everything looked good except they found a subchorionic hematoma next to the placenta and I was put on bed rest until a follow in 2 more days.
Try to just breath and think happy thoughts.

There were some clots/tissue the first hour. It has lessened significantly now and I have been laying down the last 2 hrs. No vaginal meds, just injections. We are going for blood work in the morning. We had two embryos transferred so I am praying of course that they are both still there. But, worse case scenario I hope there is still one.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

  • Well I think the fact it lightened up is a good sign. Also, if there isn't a lot of cramping pain, I know that's a good sign as that's what my doctor told me recently. Hopefully the can squeeze you in for an u/s tomorrow to help put your mind at ease.
I think you should have a night of chick flicks and ice cream in bed!
  • T&P for you, hope everything checks out ok in the morning, I know it's hard :( I'm sorry you have to go through this

  • That is the most scary thing I have experienced. I had bright red bleeding and a good amount of it at 11 weeks. It was placenta previa which later corrected itself. I hope your appt goes well tomorrow. Thinking of you

  • Thanks ladies! Bleeding pretty much stopped after 4-6 hrs. No major cramping so I am taking that all as a good sign. Just drove 3 hours through a tropical storm to give blood. Now for the 3 hr drive back into the storm to wait for the call. The nurse reassured me that this can be normal. After they get my blood work back, they will probably do an US in a few days, assuming the blood shows I'm still pregnant.
  • I'm saying lots if prayers for you! Hopefully everything comes back great. Keep your head up with lots of positive thoughts!!

  • I had two round of bright red bleeding with clots and cramps at weeks 6 and 7 and it turned out to be a sub chorionic hematoma. I thought both times i had lost the baby but both time my doc pulled out the ultrasound and my little gummy bear was bouncing around!

I'm now at 23 weeks and still going strong! The bleeding stopped about week 10 and haven't had an issue yet. FX for you! The fact that the bleeding has lessened and your HCG is good are great signs!

  • Hang in there, it is so stressful. With DS I had bright red bleeding until 12 weeks when insane cramps woke me up in the middle of the night and I passed a golf ball-sized clot. Went to ER and baby was happily doing his thing! We never did get an answer to that horrific incident and I really think that's the scariest part of bleeding. They often don't know so we can't feel reassured. GL with your ultrasound, all will be well!
