Quentin, Quintin, or Quinton

Quentin, Quintin, or Quinton, which spelling do you think is best? Quentin is the most traditional route. However, I like the Qui... versions because they are closer to the would-be nickname of Quinn. What are your thoughts?

Re: Quentin, Quintin, or Quinton

  • Stick with the traditional. You can still call your kid Quinn even if it doesn't spell Quinn exactly in his name.

Another thought. Many people have posted on these boards that they went in with prepared nicknames, only to never use them because they didn't fit their child. Base decisions off of the full name, not a nick name that you might never use.

    Quinn.
  • To me Quentin and Quintin are pronounced differently.

Quentin = an "EN" sound like Gwen. So "KwEN-tin"

Quintin = an "IN" sound. So "KwIN-tin"

(Sorry I'm terrible at phonetic spelling)

I've never seen Quinton, and wouldn't go that route.

  • It's Quentin. I don't like the way Quintin looks and Quinton I've never heard of.
  • DEFINITELY Quentin. Always stick with the traditional spelling, especially of amazing names like this. Nickname Quinn or Quint is fine even if the spelling isn't exact.
  • Please use the traditional spelling.  My parents went with a quirky spelling of a traditional name and I am forever correcting people.  It's annoying and unnecessary!
  • My husband's name is Quinn. :) I like it just the way it is, minus the "tin."
