Constipation

i have had issues with this my entire life. My doctor had previously prescribed Miralax for me to take every day, which helped a lot. Since I got pregnant, he told me to stop taking it because it's a category C. However, tons of pregnant women have told me they take it and were prescribed during pregnancy. Has anyone else taken this? I don't know how I'll make it 9 months without it.

  • I have been having horrific constipation the past few weeks and my midwife recommended Miralax but it is not helping! I wish it would. But yes my midwife did say it was okay just not long term. Have you tried warm prune juice?
  • Milk of magnesia had actually saved me from exploding. Don't depend on it and don't take it every day, once or twice a week had really helped me.
  • Colace is what mine suggested.
  • Milk of magnesia and stool softeners were ok'd by my dr. I wanted to avoid taking them if possible, so I have being eating prunes like crazy. I seriously eat 15-20 a day. 5-6 with each meal. It has definitely helped!! I'm just kind of sick of eating them. I'm not really nauseated (which I am so very thankful for), but I don't really have an appetite right now. So it is getting annoying to have to eat so many prunes a day. But, if it keeps me from feeling like I did a couple of weeks ago then I will keep it up as long as I can.
  • Daily prune juice helped me when I was struggling. I also mixed in some
    Metamucil when I was really
Backed up, worked like a dream.
  • I normally have the same problem and haven't been able to go lately due to the extra iron in the prenatals..read online colace is ok and I checked with pharmacist they said that's the only thing they recommend. I heard of the prune juice too
