Books

I am looking for some book recommendations. I'd like some fiction books about being pregnant or having an infant, and I'd like non-fiction about those topics, as well as childbirth.... Ftm here.

Re: Books

  • Non-fiction books about pregnancy that I like are Birthing from within, Ina mays guide to child birth, and happiest baby on the block.  I also rec watching a youtube video on dunstan baby language.  I don't haven't any fiction recs

There are two non-fiction books I highly recommend reading for enjoyment (not medical books).

1). Labor Day: True Birth Stories by Today's Best Women Writers. It's a book of memoirs from female writers, telling the story of their children's births. I loved the stories and can't believe there aren't more books like this.

    2) Bring it on Baby by Zoe Williams. She's a British journalist who accidentally got pregnant... twice. In this book she talks about her experience, and I found it hysterical. She definitely has a liberal view of doctors do's and don'ts, so this book may not be for everyone, but I really liked it.
  • I really enjoyed the book Monique and the Mango Rains. It is a nonfiction book written by a peace core volunteer about a midwife in Mali. Very interesting and makes me so grateful for our advanced medical care, nutrition, and clean water. It is heartwarming, thought provoking, and sad. And made me realize how grateful I am to have the rights we have as women in the U.S.
