Oh so uncomfortable...

Anyone else feeling stretched to the point of thinking your skin is slowly tearing? With my first, I gained more weight and it didn't feel super uncomfortable. This time I'm tinier, and not very much fat cushion between me and the baby. While sitting up today I just had this really uncomfortable, borderline tearing sensation in my stomach. I mean...I'd be cool with having a Mothers Day baby...

Re: Oh so uncomfortable...

  • My skin actually is tearing. My skin is so itchy at the bottom of my belly where my stretch marks are and when I scratch or rub it sometimes there's blood. I've tried every lotion I can get my hands on but nothing seems to help.

Try using coconut oil... Seems to be doing the trick for me!
  • I've been using Palmers Cocoa Butter for Stretch Marks since I found out I was pregnant, twice a day, and have not had one stretch mark, I'm 38 weeks! I have a lot of pain in my upper right rib cage area because baby girl likes to jam her foot in there and it feels sensitive to touch like the skin will rip but when I put lotion on it really helps.

I feel this around my knees as that is where all the water weight sits! Bending my knees is not pleasant :(
  • Yeah, I am trying not to scratch anywhere near my belly despite the itch. I've been using lotions, too, but Palmers never worked for me and my nose is sensitive to it. I use a different type of lotion, though. I had stretch marks with my DD, but I just don't remember them being so uncomfortable to the point of painful!

  • I'm on baby #3 and I've always used Palmers. I love the smell! Not a stretch mark on my belly yet!
  • Try Burts Bees Mama butter. It is thick but lotion doesn't cut it... You need body butter. I mean, I lather it on in the morning after a shower and when I shower at night (how can I not shower twice, I feel so gross, haha) my skin feels slippery so it's obviously a thick enough layer. Target and I believe Walmart carries it!
  • Oh, and no stretch marks!

Oh my gosh - yes!  I swear each time I bend down to put on pants or something that I'm just going to rip right open.  My stomach has absolutely no squish to it whatsoever.  It's all super tight and hard.  I have some stretch marks on the bottom of my stomach (that itch like crazy!!!), and DH flinches a little bit each time he sees them and just says it looks like they hurt.  I just nod and tell him they hurt so much. ;)
  • Thanks for the recommendations, guys! I'll look into the butters - shoot, I might just make some myself, or ask my artisan mom to do it for me. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one going through this. Not even remotely fun!

  • I'm responding to the title: Oh, So uncomfortable!! That really fits right now. I'm finally experiencing the hard parts of pregnancy. All through the past 9 months I've had nothing to complain about except insomnia and fatigue. This week changed the game. Lightening crotch is real! She presses into nerve bundles in the cervix and bounces on my bladder while kicking and stretching high up under my ribs. Wow!! To top it off, she rotates her hiney back and forth from one side to the other while pressing feet and hands out to the sides. She's got to be so cramped and uncomfortable too. I'm 38+4 for Mother's Day :) logically, I want her to come close to her due date and be as developed as possible; emotionally, I want her to stay put until after the17th so her other grandmother will be here from Italy; but right now I'm feeling every BH and cramp and having some part of me perk up like "ooh, Is it time?" She's sleeping right now... In these quiet moments I'm sure I'll really miss this. But, oh! Lightening Crotch!!

I am right there with you, hon. My DS is doing the exact same thing. I'm hoping we'll make it past the 16th, after my DD's birthday party, but at the same time I sobbed the other day and asked DH to get him out of me. Haha!
