I am very uneducated when it comes to Clomid and IF.

If the girl is on cycle four and is not being monitored, if she is over producing eggs to begin with isn't she setting herself up for an exploding ovary? I thought Clomid caused you to relase more eggs and can cause the ovaries to become inlarged.

I believe that is one side effect that can happen..it's not meant to be taken lightly for sure.

Well, the GOAL of Clomid is to help you release one egg, but yes some people have problems so it's good to be monitered.

That said, maybe her family doc is monitoring her?

While I'm certainly no expert and just b/c I got through it okay doesn't mean it's the norm, I O on my own. My eggs are shiit. Three eyes and five hands on one arm and all that. I was on 50mg/clomid/unmonitored (aside from b/w)

It still took four cycles to get pg w/ a viable pg.

I can totally see how she is setting herself up for issues, but I can also totally understand why someone would choose to risk it if their ins sucked and didn't cover IF (like me)

Why do you believe she is overproducing eggs to begin with? Why does she need clomid if she's producing a copious amount of good eggs? Or do I need to read something below?

I'm not sure if it's because it causes you to release more eggs, but I know it can cause the ovaries to swell and enlarge. If that happens, rarely, it can cause you to lose the ovary, but usually is not that severe. There are studies that show that in PCOS patients, using Metformin can decrease the chance of OHSS when taken with the Clomid.

I'm really curious about this whole situation now. It just keeps getting weirder. I think D should invite her friend to botb.

EXACTLY. The friends that I have had took it CD 4-9. NOT just whenever they felt like it.

Yeah it doesn't work like that. You can't just pop one and be like okay body make baby. I took it days 3-7 and I've heard of taking it 4-8 or 5-9.

I hate to break it to her, but she can take clomid 28 days in a row if she wants. Poorly timed sex still won't = a baby. Dur.
