Nursing bra

Now that most of us have had our babies, what type of nursing bra are you wearing? I got a few for Target and wish I wouldn't have wasted my money. I did get a Cake bra from Nordstrom's and I like it but I think I'm in the wrong size. Hopefully I can exchange it. I've heard great things about Bravado but I don't know if they'll fit me. I'm like a 34 DD/DDD. Any suggestions?

Re: Nursing bra

  • I don't really wear a nursing bra. I'm more of a tank kind of gal. I do have a Bravado tank in a 36 D/DD. I will say that the band seems a little snug. I wouldn't buy one unless you can try it on first. Otherwise, it is really nice quality. If I found a good deal I'd get more.

I do have a bra from my last child that I really like because it pulls up rather than unclip down. Unfortunately I do not remember where it is from.

  • I have a few from Motherhood that I hate. There is no support at all.
  • Get sized properly! I got a ton of great advice/support from a store called Maternal Connections that was in the hospital that I delivered in. I bought the bravado original nursing bra for bed (helps to have a bed bra / around the house bra for leakage and back support). Anita is the other bras I have for going out, supportive without an underwire. These brands are both on amazon. I also had bras from motherhood originally and they are terrible in comparison! The only ones that work are underwire and lactation consultants do not condone underwire bras for milk production.
  • @jenniferaudrey0116 I'd love to get sized and thought I did but I think within the past week or so I must have completely gotten rid of water weight or something bc everything seems so large. My baby will be 5 weeks tomorrow so I'm hoping to hit the mall this weekend to get another bra. Thanks for the tip about the underwire. I didn't know that.
  • I have a few from target and a nursing tank. I don't feel like I'm getting enough support. I'm going to look online as I am still on bed rest and not allowed to drive due to postpartum preeclampsia & c section recovery. I'm looking for suggestions too.
  • I like the medela bras and tanks. They're sold at bru. I bought two bras from target and one from kohls that I hated and ended up returning. Good luck!
  • I am very busty and have one from toys are us. Around the house I do nursing tanks and this nursing bra but if j want to go out or wear normal clothes, I use bras I actually got altered. I took two bras that are more supportive to a lingerie store and they made them into nursing bras, I just fiddle with the cup to make it work! Otherwise all nursing bras I have found have no support

I also went to nordstroms. I purchased a cake sports bra and an Anita underwire nursing bra while 8 1/2 months pregnant. Now that I am back to my original weight the back is too big but not by much. The Anita bra still has extra room for my supply and nursin pads. I like it the most because of the support. I have a very large bust for my size. I was a 32 gg before baby and I currently fit into an H with my milk. Good luck to you though. I would love to try one on now, but would be afraid to leak.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm heading back to Nordstrom's tonight to exchange for a medium. Even if the cups are slightly on the small side I think it's better then the band being way too big. I've heard a few positive things about the Anita brand. Maybe I'll check them out to see if it's a winner.

@acolodiy I was afraid I'd leak too but I'm at the point where I just don't care. Haha. I need a bra that fits and supports me. You could put a nursing pad in quick to help.

Like the above poster said, just take disposable pads with you when you try the bras on. Hold the pad on your breast while you put the straps on one at a time. I had to be shown what to do by a consultant!
