  Sweeps won't put you into labor unless your body is ready to go. Usually they just cause cramps.

  I had a sweep done on a Thursday had my bloody show later that night , had contractions the whole week end and finally had my DD on Tuesday .

  I just had it done too and I just had cramping. I'm not going to worry about it though. She will come when she decides to. I didn't even ask for that sweep by the way. My doctor just did it! I had read it's really only effective when your further along with dilation. I'm only 1 cm. I don't know if there is truth to that because it's the Internet. Just though I would share though.

  I am 40+3 at my last appt. My m w did a sweep. I had cramps that night and what really felt like contractions for two nights after then nothing. I am going back in tomorrow and having another sweep. Hopefully, this one will work.

  I am 40 + 3 and my Dr did a sweep yesterday without any warning too. I've been spotting since but lots of old blood. I was 50% effaced and 2 cm dilated, so we'll see what happens. I would like it try to avoid another sweep if possible - that was quite uncomfortable!

  I had a sweep at 11am wed and had cramping and contractions that night that stopped when I went to bed. My water broke at 2pm the next day and she was born at 444pm that day. I was 4cm when he did it.

  My midwife told me that there is a huge benefit to stretches and sweeps as long as you are at close to 40w and you get 2 done within 3-4 days of each other. I had one done yesterday with very little effect and am having another done on Monday. Hopefully that will do it. I'll be 40+2 by then.

  I had one when I was 39+4, I don't remember my dialation, a few cms I'm sure. Appt was at 11am, I started contractions an hour later, timeable at 5-1-1 about 2 hours later, went to hospital at 4pm and she arrived at 9pm that night.

  I had one done on Monday at 2cm and 80% effaced. Nothing, not even cramps after. I'm assuming the doctor will try again at my next appointment this coming Monday (I'll be 40+4 then) if I don't go before that. I agree, they're not very comfortable, but I'd rather go through that than be induced!

  Still pregnant! Going for another checkup today and hopefully have become more dialated and will get stripped again....fingers crossed I am ready to meet my baby!
