What do baby's movements feel like to you?

I know this is different for everyone. My placenta is in the front, so when I feel my little guy moving, it's very low or on the side. It feels like quick, but very dull pains...more like light pressure.

The normal description of fluttering doesn't really describe what I feel, but I'm fairly certain it's the baby moving.

So, I was wondering how everyone here would describe it. Do your best!

I'm a FTM and I have no clue what to feel, but I'm pretty sure what I felt on Monday and also today on the ride home was baby. It felt like tiny bubbles or like soda fizz. It's an odd feeling but I'm assuming it was baby, or gas lol..

  • For the past few weeks, the feelings were really faint, like bubbles or popcorn popping.

A coworker described the feeling as being like a fish swimming around in your belly. Today I started feeling something exactly like that! So strange to go from tiny flutters to really feeling him toss and turn in there overnight.
  • It's crazy I'm a first time mom and it just feels like I have a little ball in my stomach trying to get out since I'm 19 weeks I feel the baby alot more it's the best

I would definitely go with the swimming fish. I feel more motion rather than distinct movements. If I lay very still and press down a little I can sometimes feel little sudden movements. Oh and I'm 17 weeks

I agree with all you lady's! I am 18 weeks I forgot to add that in my post lol. It sure is an awesome feeling! :D
  • Little flutters or tickles a lot like popcorn popping!
  • This makes me concerned! I'm 18w5d and it feels more like pressure than little bubbles or flutters. I wonder if my anterior placenta is affecting it.

I also have an anterior placenta. I figured the pressure was just my uterus growing. Early Tuesday morning, I felt one quick little popcorn pop in the same spot baby boy had been at our ultrasound Monday afternoon. I was very excited to know he heard my little conversation to him.
  • I like the goldfish swimming example. It feels like more of a rolling motion too to me. I'm Def feeling something down there lol I'm a FTM too and 17 weeks along

  • I'm also a FTM so I'm not sure if I'm feeling what I'm suppose to be, but it feels like soda fizz to me. Not strong, gentle soda fizz. It's almost a tickle, on the inside and I have to rub my belly when I feel it!
  • It was pops and bubbles. Sometimes I'll feel the spot right where baby is and it'll feel like a little hard ball. And then sometimes when I stretch or move one way or another it feels like baby is trying to push his/her way out. That one I feel most when I lean over in the evenings to get something for dd or sometimes when I pick her up and just now when I was stretching back to stretch my back I felt it!

I distinctly remember with dd being able to see and feel her move at her 20 week ultrasound even though it was still to early for anyone but me to feel. I'm anxious to see if this one is such a wiggle worm (I know what I feel how is movement).
  • I'm 17 weeks and it's like a rolling feeling to me. Bit tiny fish is a good description too.
  • I would say it's like a twinge, a twitch, or a muscle spasm! Very strange and not what I was expecting!
  • @mrsdawnjoy mine feels the same exact way!!!! Crazy bc i have an anterior placenta to. I wasnt sure if it was the baby or if it was just things shifting and moving

So I've gotten really lucky and my placenta is in the back of my uterus so I'm able to feel the occasional Pop/poke even at 14 weeks. The way I describe it is like a sudden pop feeling or a super quick poking feeling from the inside tho. I maybe feel them a couple times a day. I still don't feel fish or rolling or flutters. Waiting to see on that one :-)

  • I've heard about the popcorn feeling & flutters from others, definitely not feeling that yet.  I really don't know what I'm looking for, I'm a FTM, but I don't think I've felt either yet!  Patiently waiting, 18 weeks on Sat.

I'm 20 yo and FTM, I started to feel little pops and flutters at 16 weeks. Now I'm 18 and I feel a lot more. I've felt rolling, and shifting, strong pokes, and sometimes they can have a quick sharp pain with them.. The other night was the first time I got to see the baby move! Not on a US. Just laying in bed! All day today I could feel the baby moving. :)
  • I'm 16 weeks 3 days and starting to wonder when I'll feel him/her too or if I already am. I feel like when I try to be 'aware' I just notice my strong heart beat in abdomen. :-( I've always had IBS and some bloating so I'm not really flat either. Hopefully I'll feel something this week! It's the first week I've felt stretching and pressure in my abdomen.
  • Bubbles, but sometimes it literally feels like a small elbow is jabbing me in the stomach from the outside, yet I can feel skin on skin contact even though I'm wearing a shirt. I'm thinking it must be LO doing it on the inside.
  • Well now I can add the popcorn feel! Just woke me up while I was laying on my stomach. Have never felt anything like it and until I rolled over and felt my usual rolling feelings I wasn't sure it was baby! I also really think while holding my hand where baby was Monday I thought I felt something hit against my hand two different times! But that was probably just my brain making me think I felt it while I was excited.
  • I'm 25 and a FTM, I can't really say I've felt 'flutters' , but I know I've felt just a little 'bump' in my lower abdomen at 14 1/2 weeks and at 15 weeks. I'm 16 weeks and 2 days and I'm anxious to start feeling more!

Mine were initially flutters.. in the past week (i'm just past 18 weeks), they've started to feel more like tiny little electric shocks inside.
  • I've had lots of muscle twinges but no fish swimming yet. Just 18 weeks today and FTM, I'm still waiting for something very distinct and out of the norm feeling. I can't wait to feel him move :)
  • It feels like little punches from the inside. DH was trying to pop my back for me, and i assume baby felt squished, because it felt like 3 gentle little hits. So freaky cool!
  • it's been rolling, pressure, and light fluttery feelings until last weekend when i felt this strong pop sensation and it almost took my breath away. haha! almost like someone walked up to me and thumped me on my belly. i guess it was him kicking for the first time. too cute. :)
  • I'm 17 weeks and was told my uterus is flipped back...I've felt flutters. I wonder if the moms who feel spasms is bc of the anterior position of the placenta? Maybe mines just gas and I just have wishful thinking it's my baby girl ;)
  • 19 weeks and I've got nothing. I'm hoping that means good sleeper!
  • FTM and I started feeling rolling sensations at about 14 1/2 -15 weeks. I like the fish analogy. It just feels like something is doing back flips and tummy tucks in there!  :x

This is what it feels like to me! I don't feel the "rolling" or flipping or other movements people say they feel. The only thing I feel is the occasional quick pop or poke. Literally just feels like someone poked me really quickly on the inside!
  • Almost 19 weeks and I would definitely describe it as a swimming or rolling sensation. I have only been feeling it for about a week and I kept talking myself out of it because I didn't want to say it was baby if it really wasn't. When I went to the doctor yesterday she used the doppler and you can hear a certain sound when the baby moves so my doctor helped me realize that what I was feeling was baby. It is an amazing feeling but it can be hard to feel!
  • I call it baby bloops, because that's the only word I've been able to come up with that describes the feeling. I'm not sure how to define bloops though. :)
  • It felt like flicking from the inside; or, as others describe, popcorn popping. For me it started at 19w0d, FTM.
  • I'm 18 weeks and three days ago I felt one quick weird strumming/vibrating sensation, like someone picked a guitar string inside me.  It has just happened once and I have not felt anything since!  I am still not sure what that was!
  • Felt the baby move for the first time last night at 16+1. Felt like the cross between a muscle spasm, a very strong heartbeat, and a fish flipping around and pushing against the side of my uterus. It was strong enough that DH was able to feel it. At my last appointment the nurse had to keep moving the doppler around to find the heartbeat. She commented that the baby just wouldn't stay still. LO was also moving around a bunch during the NT scan, the total opposite of DD. She refused to move early on and almost resulted in me having to redo the NT scan.
