  • This sounds like the plot-line for some deranged sitcom. My MIL lives 10 minutes away and I couldn't imagine her living one inch closer to me. God bless you!

  • lol she's sounds SUPER excited hahaha my in-laws were supposed to move from Staten Island to Delaware before the end of 2014  but when we told them we were pregnant November first, that plan went out the window so they could stay close to their only grandchild. Ohhhhhh overexcited grandparents
  • One day I'm going to be the MIL... So I'm hoping me going through all this will help me be better at it.. Or have a DIL that will just let me be crazy and love her. Lol
  • Oh wow! Have fun with that. Hopefully it is a wonderful blessing instead of a reason for you to rip out all your hair :)

Oh my. That would make me want to sell my house! Hopefully you will at least have a convenient babysitter!

Yikes. Just yikes. 3 houses .... Heellllll noooo !
  • Mine literally live a mile apart from us. Fortunately they're 1. awesome, 2. not overbearing and up in our business 24/7. They're excited for their first grandbaby without being smothering.

My in laws are 5 miles away on the farm and I like them but you still need a little space no matter how much you like them.
  • This is my worst nightmare...no having my mother get that close would be worse

  • We bought a house exactly one mile from my parents house. I think it freaked my husband out initially, but we see them no more than when we lived 15 minutes away. It's worked out really great bc my mom can come let the dogs out if we're gone and she's watching the baby when I go back to work. They also have a really nice pool so I love being so close in the summer!

  • Oh my gosh - and I thought my parents were nuts when they sold their convertible so they could buy what is basically a grandparent minivan but that is NOTHING compared this. Did she talk to you guys about this before she up and purchased a home right next to you? I really hope she has a support network where you guys live so that she doesn't expect to come over every day (that's my nightmare scenario but not everybody likes the amount of space that I do so maybe you would be cool with it). FX that this ends up being a blessing!

She is originally is from here. So their family / my family are all within 2 hours from here. My S/O and I went to school together.

She mentioned it and we never responded. So she bought it. She said she was keeping the other house for vacation. Soooo.. I guess if it gets weird.. One of us can move lol
  • Hopefully it works out for you guys!

We live directly next door to my in laws. It was a little weird at first, but it's been two years and I LOVE it. My in laws are pretty cool though - they definitely give us privacy and always ask before they come over. Plus our two dogs and their three dogs are able to run around together in our yards and wear each other out. :) It'll definitely be helpful whenever we need a babysitter, too.
