how to: handling soon to be grand mothers who expect so much but do so little.

my mother expects and demand so much from us when it comes to seeing this baby. As though we owe them this baby but have done so little these last 31 weeks and leaving their baby shower responsibilitis to other people such as my stepmother.

    Stand your ground. It's your baby; you have the right to control who sees the baby and how often, as well as the right to reserve time for just your little family. Your mom can suck it up.

    My mom's not much better, but she's starting to get the picture that we're not having her involved every single day, and that we want time to ourselves. It's been a process for sure, but stick to your guns. She can deal, and she'll get over it.

    It gets easier the more babies you have lol. With my first daughter I got constant calls and texts 'Where is she? When is she coming?' fast forward to baby number 3 and they might not even be in the country for the birth as they've book a long holiday away. Try not to get stressed and reserve the right to say 'Enough already, home time!!' Xx

    That would be really tough. I was all about protecting our time as a family immediately following the birth, until I talked to some friends who agreed that having a mom figure around would be helpful because she can provide guidance, support, and (most importantly) tell me I'm doing a good job. So I'm planning on having my mom stay with us for a week. She'll get access to the baby, and I most definitely plan on using her. But it's easy because I have a great relationship with my mom. If I didn't, I'd probably keep her away for two weeks and have someone else be my support.
