Spotting and cramping...5 weeks

So I'm 5 weeks pregnant. I had went for a long walk yesterday to get some exercise in then came home and watched a movie. When I got up to cook dinner I started cramping and feeling nauseous. I went on to eat then went to the bathroom. I wiped and say a saw amount of blood tinged with clear mucous. I wiped again and it was gone. I sat down and took an exam for my class and about 2 hours later I got up and I kept cramping when I walked. I laid down and went to bed and no cramping or anymore streaks this morning. Of course I'm worrying myself like crazy! Has anyone else had this issue and been ok? Did I just over exert myself with all the walking? Thank you!

Hey I'm 5 weeks pregnant also. I found out due to spotting and cramping!
My spotting only lasted 2 days. And haven't had it again since. The cramping I have had regularly though. It's called round ligament pain. Where your body is preparing to stretch and enlarge to accommodate baby :)
Apparently excessive and sudden movements can trigger it. So maybe take it easy for a few days. Hope everything goes smoothly for you! First child?
It's my first, I have so many worries it's crazy

and the cramping makes me worry a lot aswel. But I've read it over and over, that's it normal and there's nothing to worry about. But easy to say than do!

But in saying this, if the cramping becomes excessive and severe and comes with bleeding then see a doctor x

I called my OB this morning and she eased a lot of my worries(: said that we're so sensitive down there at this time and I need to increase my water intake and take it easy. She said everything seemed fine, but if I had severe cramping or the blood was heavy then of course call or go to the ER, but since it's only when I wipe and it's only happened twice im fine(: that's always a relief! I breezed through my first pregnany and I'm a dancer and danced all throughout and never worried. I'm so worried about this one though! Dang hormones! Lol
  • I've been spotting/bleeding for two days. I went to the doctor for an ultrasound when the spotting increased to slow bleeding. I'm 6.5wks & measured the same. She said everything looks normal, there's a flicker she believes to be a heart beat & she's optimistic. As long as the bleeding isn't like a regular period I guess bleeding during pregnancy happens to about a third of women. Oh the things no one tells you!!!

It is comforting to hear I'm not alone during this worrying time . This is my first pregnancy, I'm 5 weeks and I'm a nervous wreck! I've been crampy for weeks ( thought I was getting my period 2 weeks ago) and we found out Saturday we r expecting. I had very tiny brown spots 2 days this week and today I came home from work and started spotting bright red blood. Cramping isn't as bad and the bright red stopped shortly after it started but I'm still having brown spotting.. went to lab for blood work but won't know anything based on that..should be going for a viability US early next week. I'm so worried this is a start to a miscarriage! :(

I've had this. I'm almost at week 7 now and I think it's coming to an end. Had some brownish bloody discharge. My friend mentioned something about “settling-in pains". If the bleeding gets heavy I'd go to the doctor. If not, try to relax. X
  • Hey ladies, cramping and spotting around 5 weeks in normal( implementing is usually the case). Also remember our uterus is already starting to grow. I had some light spotting weeks 5,6&7 and am now 9 week and our baby is fine. My was due to straining to use the washroom. Doctor explained there is extra blood flow and any amount of pushing etc may cause it to show.
Since the U.S. I am much less worried about anything bad happening so try and keep your mind at ease until then. Everything happens for a reason and there is nothing we can do to prevent mc.

Congrats on your pregnancies. Another saying I've learned from December moms is "enjoy being pregnant today and don't worry about tomorrow". I love this!
  • No you are not implanting and having bleeding and cramping from that at 5 weeks! If you've turned a pregnancy test, you have implanted at least a week ago for your hormone levels to be high enough.

That being said, bleeding and spotting at that stage CAN be perfectly normal, but they aren't because of implantation. I had small amounts of brown spotting accompanied by what I thought were cramps (but were probably just built up in my head, or round ligament pain) several times before 7 weeks, and everything is fine.

Implementation happens 10 days or so after ovulation so if you ovulated late like I did you could technically be 5 weeks when implementation happens.
