  • There's no reason or clinical significance at all to have your dilation progressed checked. It is irrelevant to how soon you will go into labor and can greatly increase you chance of getting infections. I never had a single one with my son and will not this time either.
  • It'll be 36 weeks for me, also when I get my group b strep test. I may only have him check every other week anyway.

  • With my son the only time they checked was when I was 40 weeks and then again before they decided to induce me at 42 weeks. I think the only reason they would actually need to is if you are nearing your due date or have had lots of Braxton hicks/contractions and think you may be going into labour. That's just my experience though, I'm sure all doctors are different. :)
  • I think in past pregnancies they started at 36w.... but I'll be refusing them this pregnancy.

@SBbabyonboard my dr is only doing it because I've had a lot of contractions since I found out I was pregnant and I have more every week, but also because with my son I never had any painful contractions, they were a lot more uncomfortable that BH, but definitely not painful and she just wants to be sure that I won't miss the signs if I start going into labor.
  • I get weekly checks only because of my history of PTL (and I've already had a number of L&D trips for contractions this time around). Trust me, you don't really want it any sooner than necessary ;)

  • No checks unless I'm in labor. Believe me...you don't want the checks, it's not comfortable!
