ok, for those on bedrest or maternity leave and bored like me....what have you all been watching on cable and/or netflix? Looking for recommendations. I think I've watched all "baby movies" and on-demanded every baby show (baby story, tales from the crib, I didn't know I was, pregnant and..., secretly pregnant, birth story. Movies I've watched...knocked up, 9 months, waitress, look who's talking, what to expect, life as we know it,etc) if anyone is into a good series/show or if I missed any good movies.. Please share :)

Re: Couch life

  • I just the other day watched Delivery Man with Vince Vaughan. The movie where he donated sperm and has 500+ kids? Cute movie about a guy stepping up. "Yo no soy David Wozniak!"

Justified, house of cards, awkward, dexter, homeland...

  • We are binge watching Justified!

And a list is never complete without a white liberal suggesting The Wire... So yeah, The Wire! :)
  • Parenthood! There's like 90 episodes out there so it'll take you awhile! Also, if you like Ricky Gervais, Derek is a really funny show. Just get through the first couple of episodes, they're a little strange.
  • Also if you're into documentary type stuff, a while back there was a show on Showtime or HBO or one of those channels called "Years of Living Dangerously". It's some serious stuff - definitely not a lighthearted show, I usually ended up crying each time I watched an episode and I wasn't even pregnant then, but it's really good. Its about climate change, and looking at our irresponsibility planet wise. Also, in a similar vein - you could check out the documentary 'Gasland' and it's sequel. A guy looks into Natural Gas drilling (fracking). Again, I cried when he set the tap water on fire.

Now that I've put my hippy flag out for all to see, I'm going to go back to hugging my tree :)>-

  • Definitely the unbreakable kimmy Schmidt! Or orphan black (on BBC...the premise sounds stupid but it's great). Downtown abbey. Game of thrones. All have multiple seasons (except for kimmy but it's worth it) to keep you occupied!
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • Call of the midwife is a good one! And of course one tree hill lol.

Game of Thrones! We just finished season 4 and I can't wait till 5 comes out on DVD (currently airing on HBO but we refuse to pay for movie packages). Also love Dexter except the series finale kinda made me mad

I really don't like scary movies. But that's all i been wanting to watch lately! I watched a movie called Devil's Due the other day on showtime!! And ended up having a nightmare!!smh bad idea lol
  • DH and I started to watch Game of Thrones on a whim and fell in love after one episode! Like @KarasTwin we also don't pay for the movie packages so we bought the seasons on DVD and we're working our way through them-highly recommend it!

I watched that the other day, too! Those parts with the guy and the dog with the upside down heads? Freaky!

If you like scary movies, my new fav scary movie is Sinister with Ethan Hawk. I, tho, LOVE scary movies.

  • Not sure where he found it, but DH and I watched Montage of Heck, the new Kurt Cobain documentary, tonight. I wasn't a big Nirvana fan but enjoyed the movie. And seeing that Courtney Love had a healthy baby and pregnancy despite the heroin (ahem!) oddly eased my nerves about being a parent, lol

Yes! XF is on my list to rewatch while I'm on maternity leave. I meant to ask - do you take your username from the dog of the same name in an episode?
  • Well the dog was pretty annoying I did however enjoy quagmire. Mulder with a peg leg.
  • The movie "away we go" is a great mirror of all the pregnancy conversations and what not my hubby and I have been having. And oh so funny!

Has anyone picked up any hobbies for the couch life? I am feeling so useless lately.....
  • Catfish on Amazon prime, breaking bad on Netflix, mad men on Netflix, house hunters, friends
  • @klkonwi I usually crotchet when a friend has a baby. I plan on getting some yarn once the school year ends and starting a blanket for my little one. It's fun to do while watching Netflix. Currently my only hobby is Candy Crush. Sad, but true.
  • I like to knit, it's a good stress reliever and doesn't require a whole lot of skills. I learned from my sil but youtube taught me a ton! Currently I'm working on a giraffe beanie for lo that is so far ridiculously cute. I also love pinterest which is bad :(
  • I really like Call the Midwife..can't wait for new episodes

Prison Break, Lost and Breaking Bad will keep you occupied for weeks! Lol

We also really enjoyed Son's of Anarchy, Orange is the New Black, Game of Thrones and Vikings!
