Still haven't felt baby kick

19 weeks and still not feeling baby. I want to so bad! Probably normal for first time mommy.
When was the first time you felt your first baby?

Re: Still haven't felt baby kick

  • I have an anterior placenta, I didn't feel anything until 21 weeks and 3 days. I totally relate to how you feel, I felt the same. It'll happen soon!

  • 3 days ago, and I'm 19w 4d.. soon, mommy! In the next few weeks, we'll all be posting about how they won't stop moving ;)
  • With my 9 year old, I never felt her. With this one, I've felt her since 18 weeks.
  • Ftm and I'm almost positive I felt my first flutter at 13 weeks. it felt like exactly what I feel when he moves now at 22 weeks just on a much smaller scale. It definitely wasn't gas either.
  • I'm 22 weeks and still feel nothing. I do have anterior placenta which is a factor, but this is my second pregnancy. Everything is going well though! Only a matter of time
  • I'm 21w3d and felt baby for the first time on Tuesday, but I had to lie very still and focus on my belly. I have an anterior placenta so I felt like it would never happen! Felt like a tiny fish doing a flip hehe. It will happen, don't worry :-)
  • I didn't feel my son move until much later in my first pregnancy. I think that it is pretty normal. Plus you don't really know what you are looking for. You'll feel plenty of kicks and wiggles in the coming months!

  • I'm a FTM, 20 weeks tomorrow and I haven't felt baby yet! Anxious and waiting just like you!
  • I'm at 19 weeks also. I only felt something once, about 2 weeks ago, and to be honest I'm not entirely sure it wasn't just gas. With all the ladies talking about constant movement, it's nice to know we're not the only ones who aren't there yet.

"I'm having fruit salad for dinner. Well, it's mostly just grapes, actually. Ok all grapes. Fermented grapes. Fine, I'm having wine for dinner."
  • At 19 weeks exactly.
Try lying down and gently pressing on different parts of your lower belly. That baby kicked my hand three times and it was unmistakable.
  • I'm FTM 23 weeks and I still haven't felt a thing. Hoping I will soon!
  • @rebeccadc, you give me hope, haha. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow, and if I have felt anything, I certainly haven't been able to say for sure it's baby. Stresses me out, but hopefully scan comes back ok tomorrow.

I'm a FTM. Pre-prgenacy I was in the normal weight category (and still haven't gained any) so I feel that I might have less padding than some. I felt my baby in week 17. Even now I can only really feel hard kicks due to my anterior placenta. She seems to be especially active when I'm lying down for sleep.

  • FTM here, too. I've started feeling little flutters by week 16, and clearer by week 18. Those flutters started to become kicks by week 19. No need to worry. Some feel the baby earlier, and some later. My OB and doctor mentioned that I probably feel 80-90% of the kicks because I am quite skinny (they actually sent me in for thyroids blood tests, to make sure everything is fine .)) )
Just wait and see! One day you'll be suprised! ;)
It helps if you lay in peace and silence and rub/hold your belly. :) First movements are difficult to identify :)

  • I first felt baby right around 18 weeks. I'm 20 weeks now and feel baby boy daily - stronger movements and even a few kicks! This is baby #2 but I'm also a heavier gal, so was told it might take a little longer. It will happen, it's just soooo hard to wait! At my 19 week sono, baby was moving a LOT but I was only feeling the movements once in a great while. It was shocking to me to see how much he IS moving and fascinating how little I feel :)

  • @rebeccadc im 23 weeks too and still no kicks either. I've felt what MIGHT have been some flutters but hard to know for sure. Anterior placentas stink!
  • 21w3d and still waiting on some real movement from babe :) I think I have felt the same small feelings that @mrscaterosales described (a little flipping fish) and I get pretty excited in those moments. C'mon babe, I know you're going crazy in there, now let mama know it! I might try talking to my babe more... I haven't been very good at that. Oops.

Can't wait till we're all celebrating our punching/kicking/rolling babes!! :)

  • 15 weeks for me, and FTM. I'm over 21 weeks now and my little girl kicks my hand HARD every single day now! I love it a lot! Its that feeling you get when you drop on a rollercoaster, or I agree with the fish flop. Butterflies, or little pressure nudges. Hope you feel the amazing kicks soon!!!
  • FTM and 20w4d, still waiting for the kicks!  i think i may have felt some flutters, but then i think it might just be gas, nothing yet that i am confident is baby!
  • FTM :] Started feeling baby girl make little moves at 18, almost 19 weeks. 21 weeks at this point and have been feeling her daily for the past 2 weeks. Mostly when I'm lying or sitting still, but even sometimes when I'm moving around. Everyone is different and I know FTM and mama's with anterior placentas have to wait longer, but it'll be unmistakable once you feel those first little kicks and punches! And it's well worth the wait :] Once you start feeling them they only get stronger and more frequent! <3
  • I am 20 weeks, 4 days and for the last few days I have been feeling a sensation like popcorn "popping". I don't think we'll feel kicks for a few more weeks!

Ftm and felt a flutter at 13 weeks. I went forever before feeling any more. I'm 20 w 5d and usually feel him at least 3 times a day. The past 3 days I've been woken up to little man having a party in the womb at 5 am. I think he's preparing me already!
  • Welp, U/S tech confirmed that I have an anterior placenta, so I'm feeling much more relaxed about not feeling much in there yet. Can't wait till baby starts dancing for me, but feeling much better in the mean time!

Glad they could put your mind at ease! I have an anterior placenta and felt the first flutters last week at 21 weeks. They're faint, but so precious!!

I started at 19w0d, but I know it can happen sooner or much later. I'm sure you'll be feeling your little one soon! :)

(If it helps, I also found out that I have a posterior placenta, so I probably would have felt the baby later if I had an anterior placenta instead.)

Was worried too but found out I also have an anterior placenta. I was feeling something but was not sure because it felt different from my first baby. Now baby's using my bladder as a punching bag so I definitely feel movement  :)

  • Anterior placenta here as well. I started to feel the kicks around 22 weeks. 24 weeks they were strong enough for hubby to feel. I really only feel it way down low on my stomach.
  • I have felt a lot of movement and from pretty early on, but I can also say that I have days where I feel next to nothing and get little freaked out by that. I agree that it just totally depends on many factors! Plus its really inconsistent at this point for me and I'm sure for others as well!
  • Felt first hard kicks last weekend at 23 weeks so hang in there if you're still waiting! Im grateful to be feeling kicks now but she kicks ALL night long pretty much so I've been losing sleep every night. So not always a bad thing to have to wait a little longer!
  • I'm a ftm at 21 weeks and 3 days and just over the last couple of days can I for sure say I feel my little girl moving. After 9pm while I'm lying on my back in bed I can feel her. It's not hard kicks but this weird feeling, kinda like big gas bubbles in my lower belly but no gas follows. Sometimes I give her a little poke I get the same feeling, so I know it's her. She surprised me today and I felt her in the afternoon while talking to my husband, I can't wait for him to feel her too!
  • Felt first movements around 20 weeks but only one strong kick. Now at 22 weeks I feel a lot of movement but there are days where it's very slight almost unnoticeable and some days she literally doesn't stop. It will come :-)
  • I felt flutters at just over 16 weeks. Then when I turned 21 weeks I've felt my baby girl nearly every day. It feels like wind or like I'm being flicked from the inside. I also have an anterior placenta so this affects me feel the baby
  • I didn't feel her until mother's day at 20wks +2. She was saying Happy Mother's Day, Mama :-) Now I feel her every day here and there. Yay!
  • I will be 22 weeks tomorrow and I still haven't felt any kicks. Every time I go to the doctors the baby is super active so I'm not concerned that anything is wrong, but I would just like to feel something! Sometimes I do feel like a muscle strain in my belly and when I touch there it's very hard and my mother tells me that's the baby. I am hoping to feel some kicks this week!
  • @mondella12 - I am 23 weeks tomorrow and still waiting just like you :) I also have those strains & hard spots. I assumed it was baby, and it's cool to think our little ones are just living it up in there. Soon enough it will be our time! Xoxo Mama
