I have terrible migraines that usually start with nausea, and was prescribed Zofran early this year. It's phenomenal - it's the only prescription anti-nausea medication I've taken that didn't leave me mentally fuzzyBand also made me feel like I was not going to be sick. My neurologist told me that she took it for morning sickness throughout her pregnancy as well. I hope that helps!
The nurse made it seem like one was to prevent nausea and the other to alleviate it. Unsure of which to take. I've been sick for 2 weeks straight and have waved the white flag for a prescription.
I started on Zofran two days ago and at first, it only stopped me from throwing up. The nausea was still really bad. However, after about the fourth dose I've noticed a significant decrease in nausea. I also bought some sea bands last night and about an hour after putting them on, my nausea is almost gone entirely! I couldn't believe it. Best $6 I've ever spent. Haha. Now I have a bad cough/cold. One thing to the next... But I'd rather have a cough/cold over being sick to my stomach!
I take Zofran and was told that a common side effect was headaches. Luckily they only seem to be on the mild side for me. Zofran can also cause fatigue, digestive issues (including more constipation), etc. I did have some stomach pains at first but happy to report they have subsided. Oh and make sure to up your fiber and fluid intake!
Hi there- I had to take it due to a bad stomach flu I had at 5 weeks. I tried to limit it as much as possible as it is a Class C drug. It really helped keeping me from throwing up though which was the biggest thing and I could drink water. The only side-effect I had was good ol' constipation
There is some new research out suggesting not to take zofran during pregnancy with the risk of birth defects. I took it with my first pregnancy but only took it when I couldn't take the nausea/vomiting anymore. This pregnancy I am nauseous but mild compared to last time. Good luck! Only a couple more months and it will all pass
I was told that Zofran had a high risk for first trimester as well. I take Diclegis. It is 3 times per day. I am sorry to report though that I still get sick on it. My first pregnancy when I took it I did not, but this time I am sicker. I've been told that it is a good sign and it will be over soon. That isn't much comfort though. As far as side effects though the drowsiness isn't that bad. I think I desire to take naps just as much as the next pregnant lady.
I've been on Diclegis (known at Diclectin in Canada) for 2 weeks now and it has saved my life. Feeling much better these days! Now that I'm at 8 weeks, I'm hopeful to try weaning off it soon. My dr said the most important thing is to take it consistently, as it is a slow release drug and takes a few hours to kick in.
ETA: The fatigue leveled off after the first week for me, much better these days!

I'm on diclectin and it has saved me. I could not function for a week. I still feel a little nausea now and then but nothing compared to when I wasn't taking anything. I am on 4 pills a day and can go up to 6. I am drowsy but its better then the alternative
I've been taking Diclegis (actually B-6 and Unisom since my insurance is yuck) and it's kept me from throwing up but the nausea is still affecting my job and daily life, I also gag a lot, like weird dry heaves without actually puking. My doctor prescribed Compazine, which hasn't done a ton so far. I use Sea Bands, keep citrus essential oils around, suck on peppermints and sour candies, and it's basically keeping me at a miserable, but can still work level. I took Zofran with my daughter and it was freaking magic. I've used leftovers once or twice when I really needed to be functioning and it's glorious feeling like a human again. But I got wicked hemorrhoids from the constipation with Zofran, so as much as I want to feel human again, if I get prescribed that again I'll only use it sparingly and when absolutely necessary. I tend to be sick through about week 20 though

I started taking Diclegis this week because I'm currently traveling a lot, which is making my nausea worse. It's definitely taken the edge off the nausea, but it's not completely gone. I've never taken Zofran, and my OB said she doesn't prescribe that anymore. The only side effect that I've noticed is sleeping hard/well through the night. My dosage is to take 2 tabs before bed. The slow release is supposed to last all day, but if 2 doesn't cut it you can take up to 4--per my OB, 1 in morning, 1 in afternoon, 2 at bed). I've been having some insomnia with this pregnancy, so the sleepy side effect is one that I'm okay with.
My OB gave me Diclegis which is a Class A and it helped SO much. I had a normal meal for the first time in weeks. However, it has a histamine in it which makes me extremely drowsy but I MUCH prefer that to feeling as severely sick as I was.
A few people on my fb swnt me links to some lawsuit for zofran causing birth defects. I took 8! Now i am worried i threw them out. Would rather be sick
I actually was just put on Diclegis yesterday. I feel worse than I did before. I've only had nausea, no actual throwing up, but now I feel even more nauseous and am dizzy on top of it. I was given samples to try because it's expensive on its own, but I think I will just have to toughen up and brave it out for the next few weeks without medicine. I know it's not shown to be dangerous for a pregnancy but I felt bad taking it anyway. Everything makes me paranoid.
I've taken Zofran when I wasn't pregnant and it was magic but pregnant it hardly helps. Just started on diclegis and it's wonderful. I was having all day and night ms and could hardly sleep for being so nauseous. I can actually sleep now. I don't think it's as much the pulls making me tired as that I missed out on so much sleep and now playing catchup.
Please don't take zofran. The side effects can be and aren't limited to cleft lip or pallet, heart problems, spinal issues, etc. My dr said dramamine is ok for nausea. It's an over the counter motion sickness med. Also, vitamin B6 is extremely helpful. The sea bands work really well too.
After 3 weeks of all day nausea I called my doctor and he prescribes Diclegis. I take it at night before bed and it does alleviate about 80% of my nausea. The two side effects I have noticed are dry mouth with kind of a bad taste and kind of foggy, tired feeling. It took me awhile to break down and get drugs but I think it was worth it. I feel much better and that means I'm eating healthier and able to work out a bit. My doctor said they still prescribe Zofran but only as a last resort because of recent reports. Diclegis is a class A FDA approved drug for morning sickness and has been tested on pregnant women with no negative side effects reported.
I took Dicelegis but it didn't alleviate my symptoms at all. I am now on Zofran and I'm still feeling slightly nauseous but instead of vomiting 5-6 a day I am only at 1-2 a day. The only symptom that Zofran has given me is constipation.
I took Zofran twice a day everyday from 9 weeks on with my first. It is not proven to cause birth defects there are a number of babies every year that have birth defects for no reason. My cousin was born with a hole in her heart and her mom didn't take anything. If it wasn't for Zofran I wouldn't have had a successful pregnancy because I couldn't even keep water down. It is hitting me again this time and I will be calling the doctor this afternoon and seeing if he will get me something for it.
After 3 days of constant nausea and vomiting I ended up in the hospital because of dehydration. I got prescribed diclectin and it is a lifesaver!!!! I can actually eat now!
