Re: Dad Bods are the new trend! Wth! What about Mom Bods!

  • Lol my hubby has a 'dadbod' and was so excited when he spotted this article claiming that he set the trend lmao! Too funny!

  • I think it's a total double standard and not so appealing to me

Nope, I'm still into athletic men.
  • Dad-bod? My husband is a father and has the sickest, most fit and healthy body. It actually makes me want to punch him when he goes to the gym.
  • Yeah I guess the guys I date tend to be pretty plain bodied. Never fat, on the slim side but never ripped. I am ok with that but they tend to be self conscious. Especially my husband who doesn't like wearing short sleeve shirts much and going to the beach for these reasons. I think he just fine but he is built very sturdy like a very Romanian, barrel chest and all. He is totally not fat but I would say he does have Dad bod.

I understand what they are saying here but women have been scrutinized for centuries. Let men feel self conscious and squirm a little about looking good. Sorry but I have no sympathy for men who want acceptance for their appearance because they don't work hard to look good.
  • I think "mom bod" and female body acceptance in general has been a thing for a LONG while now, so I don't really get what the problem is.
I don't think the term dad bod is appropriate though, I mean I've seen plenty of fit dads. It should be more like lazy guy bod or bodies of guys who don't care too much about their fitness level. I guess if we used similar terms for women their would be riots, lol
  • Before I clicked the link I was expecting the 'dad bod' to be a big beer gut based on some of these comments. I don't think the actors they mention have any physical problems, they are still fairly fit men. They even said that the definition of 'dad bod' is that the man probably goes to the gym but also enjoys beer and pizza. That pretty much sums up my husband's (and my) physique. Nothing wrong with a man, or a women, having a little extra cushion.

These men don't have big beer guts but the message received will be oh great now I can sit back and relax and not work out or eat right. I don't think there is anything wrong with it either but I do think it's silly to make a trend out of this!
  • @ccarrozza1 Definitely agree it's silly to make it a trend and give it a name (I also don't think it's worth the press) BUT I don't think it's a bad thing for guys to be cushy, just like girls being curvy.
  • Men have been "allowed" to have the "dad-bod" for years, especially men in the media. Someone slapping a name on it and calling it a trend doesn't make it any different.

  • @SnarkasaurusRex Aint that the truth! I think you said what I was thinking in one sentence. That's what I was trying to say.

By the way, I love your username. It totally rocks! Almost as great as @corndogrobot
