Is sleep your best remedy?

I had one of the worst days so far yesterday. Left work early and threw up over 5 times. I have been in bed for over 15 hours now and actually feel like today might not be so bad. I've tried crackers, ginger, accupuncture, etc and I'm beginning to think that a ton of sleep might be the best remedy. Anyone else experience this? Not to say I'm ready to go out and run a marathon or anything, but I don't think I'll be hugging the toilet quite so much :)

Re: Is sleep your best remedy?

  • I always feel less nauseas when I get a good nights sleep. When I have to wake up early for work is when I've thrown up.

  • Taking it easy, whether laying down or not standing so much helps me. I haven't had any throwing up, and I didn't with my last one, but I get the lump in my throat. That just started for me a couple of days ago.

  • I'm with you 100% on this. If I get lots of sleep, I feel okay. If not, I can pretty much count of feeling horrible the next day. And I fee a thousand times better after a nap than before!

  • I always feel  better after sleep. Part of the reason I think I get a little nauseous in the evenings (rather than earlier in the day) is because I'm more worn out and my body is tired. I go to bed early, wake up refreshed, and the nausea is gone until that afternoon/evening when I'm tired again.

If I could just sleep my way through first tri I totally would.
  • I wish I could be placed in an induced coma for the first trimester. Sitting here trying not to puke as I write this..
  • I agree, although I'd say I'm pretty much able to cope as long as I'm laying down or sleeping, anytime I get up to walk or drive its downhill from there. Work has been pretty hard these past couple days they must hate me for calling out
  • Agree but it lasts the entire pregnancy for. :-&
  • I called out of work last week because I could tell my body was so tired. I was extra every symptom the previous day and could tell my body NEEDED to rest. I slept for about 6 extra hours the day I called out which was the following day and I do not regret it.

I'm becoming okay with sleep as the remedy. After a few failed attempts at listening to my body, I'm just going to start going with how it nudges me the rest of the trimester.
  • I found for my first pregnancy the only time I felt sick I was overtired. This pregnancy I'm just sick all the time but horizontal seems to be the key- sleep and laying make me feel better- not a productive member of society, but better lol

Even though I still feel like crap, I'm finding that if I keep snacking all day, even when I'm not at all hungry, I feel a little better overall. I eat toast with cream cheese in the morning, crackers on and off all day until lunch, etc. It does help a bit. Sleep doesn't seem to matter. Sleeping is hard with a stomach ache anyway.
