Blood blister on the lady bits

As I've mentioned before, my line of sight to the nether land has been greatly obstructed as of late... This means that until I looked into a mirror last night, I hadn't realized there is a gigantic (imo) blood blister perched on my labia. Through some careful (read: uncomfortable) maneuvering, I managed to poke at this thing. Immediately, and without pain, blood came out. Quite a bit. Yet it filled again. Repeat the cycle a couple times and you can see my latest hobby. Woo woo! Anyhow, anyone else experiencing such fun? My hunch is this will go away after the pressure from Baby disappears, but am I being overly optimistic? Not worried about an STD; there isn't any discomfort, itching, whatever. But... anything I can do?

Re: Blood blister on the lady bits

  • Call your doctor. I would not recommend home lancing a blood blister in that location because it's hard to keep it really clean and dry, especially at this stage of pregnancy, and you don't want to risk a bacterial infection.

  • @Katerina&Baby I don't mean to sound completely stupid here, but is there a real risk of a bacterial infection as a result of this? Will the doctor be able to do anything about it, or is this just a situation of waiting-it-out?

  • Ouch! No advice, just ouch!
  • Any time you're breaking skin open, you risk allowing bacteria into the wound and it getting infected. You should talk to your doctor to see if there is any reason that they would want to lance it but I think the general rule with blisters is to let them be.
  • you poor thing, this does not sound like a very fun situation. I dont have any real words of wisdom... maybe just let it sink back into the abyss? Out of sight out of mind?
  • @Mommaswizz Good plan! I was blissfully ignorant of it till now, why not keep it that way? I think I'll follow your advice, at least until the doctor will be spending time there on my weekly visits (ahem) and I can ask about it because then there won't be any denying. :-)

  • I have a few...one popped on its own last week. that one gets irritated bc it rubs against my underwear and pants. I hope they disappear after birth. I put some lavender essential oil on it to prevent infection.
  • Are those blood blisters or varicose veins? Either way, I second the why look.
