Belly Mold: Anyone Else?

Everyone I tell seems to think I'm a conceited nut for wanting to get my belly molded via a home-DIY kit. Anyone planning on doing it? If so, what are your plans for it when it's all done? Any S+TMs have one from previous pregnancies? If so, how far along were you when you had it done? What did you do with it? Any recommendations for mold brand reviews?

I did a mold for my first baby and everyone wrote their weight guess while I was in labor! I was around 35 weeks or so.... Definitely plan to do it again. We don't know gender this time so it's a fun little guessing game for my baby shower. Obviously guessing gender and weight this time... Maybe even birth date!

For some reason I assumed that you had begun growing mold on your belly...and was feeling mine and it felt fuzzy and then I panicked....and then my innie belly button had crud in it and that freaked me out....I feel so gross! Then I realized I just have more belly hair than usual, then I opened the damn thread and went oooooooooh.
The belly mold think is not my style. I have no idea what you are supposed to do with it. I'd feel silly hanging it on a wall or something so for me it's a pass.

This is the first I've heard of the belly mold thing. If it's something you're into, that's awesome, but I agree, not really my thing... I feel like the process of making the mold would be kind of gross/itchy feeling (on the other hand, it might feel really nice, if it's cool in this heat!), and I have no clue what I'd do with it after the fact. I don't really have storage space for something like this right now, and I don't think it's something I would display all the time... the guessing game that @egoodgame suggested is a cool idea - but, again, what do you do with it after? Not trying to be snarky, genuinely curious!

ETA @MrsCaliRN I don't think that you wanting to have this done makes you a "conceited nut," as your friends apparently think! If this is something you want to do, I hope it works out for you. Let us know what you end up doing with it!

I had a friend do one with her first pregnancy. She painted it gold and hung it on the wall. It always made me incredibly uncomfortable to sit in the same room as it. I don't think I understand it.... I'd rather just have a nice picture, personally

That sounds like a storage nightmare! Do you display it? Put in a bin? Just seems like a really unnecessary thing to do.

My Doula does this and I think it is neat but I am pretty minimalist so it is not for me. My midwife did get it done with all of hers and they hang in her office which is cool.

@devyns2nd My friends oldest is now twelve so the belly has been around for awhile. Every time she moved houses I always hoped it wouldn't be rehung. But, alas, it has survived!

I think maybe the appeal of doing this is lost on me because I've had such a rough pregnancy. I don't want a reminder of this time....like at all. Especially not hanging on my wall. I know there are women out there who have the wonderful pregnancy experience so I guess I could see why they'd want to remember it always. I guess I'm just imagining being the child of a mom who did this and finding it when I'm like 15 and being totally weirded out. I'm an awkward person in general, though, so maybe that's playing into my anti-belly moldness

I'm a STM and so far I've had two very easy pregnancies and I have never once thought of doing this. I think it would be creepy to hang up a mold of my body on the wall. Sorry it's just not for me!

My daughter isn't here yet but we just did our belly mold this week actually! For one, it turned out amazing! And two, definitely something to do! I'm very sentimental and though I have many pics of my belly the fact that I have a mold is awesome too. I plan on using it as a photo prop when she's finally here. I'm going to paint her little feet and place them on the outside of my belly mold and plan on laying her inside the belly for photos. I'll be holding on to it for as long as it lasts. It's super neat and like I said im extremely sentimental!

That sounds freaking adorable. This isn't for me but hey you know everyone is different. I also can't paint, but we are planning on a cute shadow box with ultrasound sound going home outfit, cute hat and stuff in there I think that will be the sentimental thing we do.
