  I'd say no personally. I see no reason as long as you're healthy why another doctor can't deliver. I'd have serious issue with a doctor who was willing to do such a thing. I'm not a fan of doctors who induce for convience, especially their own.

  I would personally refuse that...to each his own, but I think our bodies know what to do most of the time and baby needs to cook as long as it's healthy to stay in... Inducing based on convenience is not a real reason for me...

  I would seriously side eye a doctor wanting to induce prior to 40-41 weeks for no medical reason. There are other doctors out there that they should be able to refer you to. I have one OB but I've seen multiple docs during my 9 months and am aware that any one of them (or any others that I haven't met) could be the one to deliver my baby.

  I wouldn't. My doctor broke mine at 38w5d and now my baby boy caught a cold. He's only 12 days old and hes struggling so much to breathe. It kills me. I can't help but think had he stayed in til 40 weeks he would be better equipped to handle the common cold. Of course, I didn't request the induction- i was low fluid, and i have a 2 year old so sicknesses are inevitable. but still- breaks my heart. do all you can to ensure you're protecting baby. 38 weeks is too soon.

  At my 37 week appointment, I was 1 cm and 80% effaced. My doctor was also going out of town after my 38 week appointment. She said she would not be surprised if I went into labor the following week. But if I didn't, she would likely be out of town when I went into labor and the doctor at the hospital would deliver the baby. She never suggested inducing because she would be out of town. I wanted her to deliver my son and apparently he did too. My water broke at 38 and 2 and my doctor was able to deliver my little boy.
  
  He hasn't had any health related issues other than jaundice. There are many factors working against him for why he has jaundice. Our blood types are the main factor.
  
  I can't tell you what to do but seeing that you have concerns enough to ask, I would say don't let them break your water to deliver early. Every baby is different. There is no possible way to know if your baby will have issues being born at 38 weeks.

  I would say no as well. My Second child was a scheduled C at 38 weeks. Turns out they were off on my dates. Based on her appearance, weight and how much vernix she had, they wouldn't have estimated her to be any older than 37 weeks at most. She was ok but we did have a few issues breastfeeding. I still would be uneasy with the idea of baby just may not be ready, especially if it's for pure convenience.

  Agreeing with pp's here. Let your LO come on her own (if course, I'm 40+5, and discussing induction on Friday). Baby's health is much more important than your docs schedule. Besides that, a doc is a doc, I'm sure who ever delivers your kiddo will know what they're doing.

  Thank you everyone! I was leaning more towards the no side of it as well I just wanted to hear it from someone else...it's so hard being patient right now!!
