DH and I already use sensitive skin, dye free, perfume free, hypoallergenic detergent and dryer sheets for our own clothes. What's so special about the baby stuff (except for the exorbitant price?) Can I just use the sensitive skin detergent and dryer sheets that we already have? Thanks!

Your baby will be laying against your shirt. They will be laid in your bed, etc. They will come into contact with all sorts of laundry, therefore you just don't need special detergent for their laundry.
For sensitive kids free and clear is more mild than baby detergent which is totally loaded with fragrances.
I generally make all my own laundry detergent because it is so cheap to do. With the amount of laundry I do, other detergents really add up. Its very gentle and cleans well...I can attest to that with all the children...especially boys...I have. I do keep some Tide around for some laundry that has special issues....chocolate ice cream set in or blood etc. Tide, although loaded with chemicals, really can remove anything!!
