Birthing/yoga ball?

im 37 weeks and 2 days pregnant, when I went to my weekly check up I was 1 1/2 cm dialated but doctor says baby still hasn't dropped so I won't be opening much until she does.. He recommended walking, sex & using a birthing/yoga ball to get her to drop, well, my husband doesn't want to have sex because he is "scared" that he will hurt the baby.. And walking for long periods of time is out of the question since I have really bad swelling on my feet and ankles & it's really painful.. Any of you have tried the ball? What exercises did you do? Did you just bounce or did you do other moves? Did it help baby drop? Any help appreciated.. Thanks ☺️

  • Do clockwise circles for 90 seconds, then counter clockwise for another 90 seconds and just alternate and then you can do backwards and forwards pelvic tilts. Slow bouncing that makes you feel like you're squatting is good too! I love my yoga ball, I'm bringing it to the hospital with me! Good luck! :)

Not sure if this actually helps or not- but I do squats. In order to force myself to do enough I do them while I blow dry my hair. If I get to hot or need water I must stop blow drying my hair to and then continue shortly after. I mean I don't go super fast but I get at least 50 in each time. This is supposed to help with the muscles for labor as well as it can't hurt to help gravity a little with the "drop"

I love my yoga ball!!! I'm 5'5" and I got the 65cm but I wish I got the 75cm. I sit on it all the time and just sway my hips or do a figure 8 with them. Perfect when folding laundry. I also get on my knees and lean over it and rock back and forth (I've watched entire movies like that.) They are awesome for creating space for baby to move down and also for relief from sciatica.
  • I ordered mine online from Target. It was less than $20

All this. I love my yoga ball and sit on it/lean over it whenever I can. I also really liked having it for labor last time around - it will definitely be joining me at the hospital again.
