What do you look for in a stroller?

Hello, this is my first pregnancy and I'm 11w expecting twins. I noticed that there's a lot of choice for strollers including double strollers. I'm a little overwhelmed. What are some important features that you look for?
I live in NY in an elevator building. Don't have a car but will likely rent from time to time and take cabs. And will be living in an apartment so somewhat limited in space.
Thanks!

  • Check out the City Select.

I look for big seats with good sun canopies, all wheel suspension, good wheels, maneuverability, weight and big accessible basket.

If you have a higher budget, the Bugaboo Donkey is a good option too.

  • Our must haves included: smooth ride, spacious basket, good sun/rain canopy, easy fold, compact while folded, off road abilities.

Think about how you'll use it and go from there. Will you have space in your apartment for the stroller to sit out or will you need it to be able to be stored compactly in a closet or corner? Will you have to lift it often? Will you be taking it into establishments with tight spaces?

Former city dweller here, currently in CT. I actually walk a lot despite living in the burbs because I grew up in NYC and never quite managed to learn to drive (I know ugh)- so I guess I was looking for a stroller that would work off road, something sturdy, and something that I can easily fold up etc when I am going in and out of ubers. We actually JUST bought the Bugaboo C3 last weekend.

This is our first, but depending on when #2 happens, I think we would go the Donkey route. I just saw one in store and it was so cool!

  • I love our Graco travel system stroller. Cup holders, snack trays, good shade coverage, cushy handle, easy to fold up for travel. One thing to think about for a double stroller is the side-by-side versions aren't allowed in some places like Legoland discovery centers and museums. The Tandem versions are more compact and are allowed where normal strollers are. Another option is to buy 2 regular strollers and buy "connectors" to hook the 2 together.
