Is warm (not hot) yoga safe- at 85 degrees? I am 22 weeks.

I don't really have the budget for prenatal yoga this pregnancy, but I saw a free community class that is a gentle intro, taught at 85 degrees. Would this be ok?

  • I would consider that hot, and probably a poor option if you didn't do it pre pregnancy. But that's just my opinion, and like pp said, ask your doc!

If you're used to doing hot yoga it is probably fine. Generally the classes you're supposed to avoid are the ones that are heated to over 100. However if you're new to yoga I wouldn't advise even a slightly heated class. I'd suggest trying a prenatal class or buying a prenatal yoga dvd to do at home.
  • It is only ok if you have been doing it and are used to it. I started hot yoga only a few weeks before I found out I was pregnant and the owner of the yoga studio said since I had only been to 4 or so classes that it would be best to go to non-heated classes
