So Im so anxious to find out what im having (i should be finding out around next week) and once i find out im going to do some clothes shopping. is it good to get different sizes (like 3/6 months ect.) before hand? or is it better to wait?
Start With Newborn and 0-3 sizes. Don't buy too many newborn sized clothes because they grow fast (maybe a good 15 sleepers/onesies/etc because they can dirty clothes in a heartbeat) . My daughter lasted in newborn clothes for about a month, and was in size 0-3 for another month. She's 13.5 weeks old now and wears size 6 month clothes. My two older kids were smaller. By 3 months old they were in size 3, by 6 months old in size 6, etc. They stayed true to the sizes but my youngest is outgrowing them by a mile. My point is (eyeroll at tangents) that you won't know how big your baby will be or how fast it will grow until he/she arrives so don't run out and get too many smaller sizes just yet.
I would wait until after your shower. It doesn't matter what you register for, people love to buy baby clothing. It is so cute, and hard to resist. I had so many little outfits, that I returned half of them for store credit, and still had way too many. I also wouldn't buy larger sizes, because it is impossible to estimate the rate of growth of your child. My daughter is 2, and wearing some size 12 month, some size 18 month clothing. She is itty bitty.
Motherhood Maternity is having some very nice sales and putting alot of clothes at $10 + clearance. I got a coupon in the mail today and already used it.... spend $100.00 you get $20.00 discount. I'm on a tight budget with clothes so every little bit helps.
Wait..you never know but will be able to better judge their growth by the time they're 3 mo old. My DD stayed true to size until 6 mo and now at 2.5 she's in 4s. My triplets DSs were in preemie from 2 wks to 6 wks then NB at 6 wks, 0-3 mo by 3 mo, 3 mo at 4 mo, in 6 mo at 5 mo, and now in 2T at 14 mo (11 mo adjusted).

I bought clothes way in advance. Who wants to go shopping when your child grows out of clothes? I got a ton of 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes at my shower. 3-6 months was the most popular gift.
my sister (mother of 2) has been getting clothes for my daughter since the day I told her I was pregnant. Some new, some second hand. My unborn daughter has sizes from NB- 12 months. She is going to be going to daycare, and they require a certain amount of clothes taken on a daily basis...so, this kid has clothes.
