FTM- Showing at 14 wks?

Hey Ladies,

I saw some posts in the past that a lot of FTMs didn't show until 16+ wks...but I swear I am showing a bump already! Just starting this week too!

I've always been  slim and an  active runner, so my mom even noticed that my belly was rounder and a different shape of "bloat" (she thinks its a bump) than she's ever seen.

Or is it just a permanent bloat for the past four days and I'm jumping the gun? I know that before this week, I just had a nasty bloated gut but this is different...

Anyone else show a little bump this early as a FTM?

FTM here too and I did also. I had an all the time bloat/rounder tummy after 10 to 12 weeks. I had my first "is that a baby bump" at 15 weeks so I totally was in the same boat. Now, there is no mistaking it. Haha.
I'm also very small- 5'5" and 105lbs pre pregnancy- so I think baby and expanding uterus has no place to go but out :)

  • I started showing earlier than most. I was 5'4 and 110 pre-pregnancy. Everyone told me that bc I am small it has no where to go but out.
  • I started showing at 10 weeks as a ftm. But I'm five feet tall.
  • I started to show at 14 weeks with my first. Everyone is different, but that's totally normal.

I started showing around 13w with twins.
  • I'm a FTM also. I'll be 15 weeks tomorrow and am showing and in maternity pants already. Everyone is different!

  • I am a ftm as well and the day i hit 14 weeks i popped! I thought the same thing, its to early! But it is what it is. It doesnt disappear anymore. Its hard and round and i love it! Embrace your bump! Everyone pops at different points. Take comfort in knowing your baby is growing.

  • I started noticing a difference in my belly at 11 weeks! It was most likely bloat at the time, but it didn't go away. Now im 17 weeks and def have a bump, although it is still not super obvious (especially to someone who doesn't know me).

ok thanks ladies! Great to hear I'm not going crazy. Today at work I finally wore a non-flowy top (been covering the bloat for a few weeks) and one of my coworkers said ah I see that little bump! its so cute :D
  • Congrats! It seems like us short people seem to pop a little sooner. I'm 17 weeks and have been in maternity pants for 3-4 weeks :)

@Lbettilyon whats crazy is, I'm not short! I'm 5'6 LOL! Maybe I have a secret twin inside there...JK I think they would've seen that by now :)
  • I'm 15 weeks and I had bloating for several weeks. But in the past week or so, it seems different. It is there all the time and the shape is a bit different. But it still seems like mostly bloat (because I can suck most of it in) with some part of it being the beginning of a bump. But everyone sees it as a bump...and since it's always there, I just go with it! I think it will become more of a bump (more firm) in the upcoming week.
  • @Lbettilyon I think the length of your torso has a lot to with it too when you're short. Not as much extra space.
    @kim1228
I'm 5ft 6, too. I've always been very thin with a long torso and I pop early and carry big. We're all so different!
  • I think you're right. In my case I am only 5'2 and have a very short torso. I also started on the heavy side so that doesnt help either.

  • I started at fourteen weeks as well, and returned to work this week (just 15 weeks today) and yesterday a co-worker said, "Well if anyone didn't know you were pregnant they will now!" So much for believing I wouldn't show until 20 weeks because everyone kept telling me that!

I'm 14 weeks this week and the past few weeks it's definitely been a whole lot of bloat, but this week I feel like I actually look rounder and like I have more of a bump. I've only gained 3 lbs and I was a healthy weight to begin with so I don't know how much could really be baby bump but I'd rather claim the bump than the bloat though so I'm going with bump! :)

  • I am 15w.  I didn't think I was showing until I looked at my progress pictures the other day.  Yeah there's a difference!
It still mainly looks like "pudge" though so not something most people will not recognize as a baby bump.
It looks huge and round when I look down at it but looking in the mirror it's not that big.  Shape is more round and it's starting to get hard, and itchy.  I will probably just wake up one morning and BAM - baby belly.

I touch it all the time, so I am really looking forward to looking like a pregnant woman and not just a porker affectionately rubbing her latest sandwich.
