Pregnant after IF

Intro- scary high beta

WARNING!!!!! BFP, losses, child mentioned

Hi all,

I have been informed that I am in the right place, so greetings to all!!! My background is in my signature so that's my IF journey in a nutshell! Today I am celebrating because I have successfully created an Internet signature! That's pretty big for me.

I write to announce with cautious optimism that I have had a BFP. Pretty excited, though I've been down this road before... For the time being, I have 2 questions. Perhaps you can help me with them? First, is there any way to mark the PAIF page so that I don't have to do a google search for it every time I'd like to see what y'all are up to? Second, I had my first beta yesterday at 14dp5dt and it was 3,628. Progesterone 33. I am a little panicked about this. I know that sometimes low betas aren't good, but is the same sometimes true for high betas? It just seems a little high and I'm worried. Although I know from past experience that we will worry til the minute the baby is born, then every day thereafter!

Looking forward to weighing in on your discussions and learning from you!

Sincerely,

Daggermouth

Re: Intro- scary high beta

  • High betas can be indicative of multiples or incorrect calculation of gestational age/LMP. Since you're doing IVF, there's no error in calculation, so I'd be wondering if both of those transfers implanted and are growing. That's all I've ever heard of high betas. Congrats on the BFP.
  • Loading the player...
  • Sounds like possible multiples to me. How many embryos did you transfer? Sorry if that's in your signature, I can't see that on the mobile app. My beta was over 1000 on 15dp5dt. My nurse said it could be two or just one really stubborn one. So that makes me think 1000 isn't astronomically high even for a single. I think your safe!
  • Congratulations on your BFP! I am pregnant with twins and early betas are in my siggy. But from seeing the stories on here, the beta does not necessarily mean much. Could be one, could be more.

FX for you for continued good news!  No advice on the beta.  As for bookmarking the PAIF page, what device (laptop, phone, etc.) are you using, and what internet browser (Safari, IE, Chrome, etc.)?  If you tell us that we can give you instructions on what exactly to do to create a bookmark.  :)
