21 weeks, no movement?

hi ladies! I am a FTM and haven't felt any baby movement yet! My next appointment isn't until the 20th, and I know it can be normal but I'm still worried!

Try not to worry...I'm a STM and from experience you might be feeling baby and not even realize it! Both of my babies are most active in the evenings. I've found that I feel them more (or realize it more) when there is something on my belly...nothing heavy though. Sometimes I'll put my feet up and put the remote or my cell phone on my belly and it will start to kind of shake. That's usually baby! You might try it tonight and see if anything happens. Try be sure you put it below your belly button... baby is probably still pretty low.

And I am not 112 week preggo... :) Need to update that!

  • I have only felt my nugget a few times and once was when trying to find her heartbeat on Doppler...she kicked it! Lol! Give it time and only worry about feeling the baby when you are to the point of counting kicks.
  • They might tell you at your anatomy scan that you have an anterior placenta, meaning its on the tummy side of your uterus instead of the spine side. That tends to block feeling of baby movements for a lot longer than in women who don't have that. I just found out that mine is anterior, so I'm not worried about not feeling baby. Maybe ask your ob or nurse if you can come in before the 20th just to have a listen on the doppler to reassure yourself?
  • I had my anatomy scan today and found out I have an anterior placenta... I too was panicking that I hadn't felt baby yet. Maybe this is what is going on. Even so, my OB told me it could up to a few weeks longer to feel baby regardless of placenta location as a first timer.
  • I'm also 21 weeks and haven't felt any real movement (that I know of). I have an anterior placenta though so doc says it's like a pillow cushioning baby's kicks. I was lying very still last night after dinner and focusing on my belly and I thought I might have felt a little flutter, but I'm not sure. Someone told me that for a FTM it feels similar to gas bubbles rumbling in your tummy, and if no gas comes out within a few minutes, it was probably baby!! Hahaha. That sounds funny, but no gas followed the little flutter so I'd like to think baby enjoyed my dinner :-) It felt like a tiny fish doing a flip in my lower belly, if that makes any sense?? We'll start feeling REAL movements pretty soon I'm sure!!
  • I'm almost 20 weeks. I do not have an anterior placenta and Dr. says it is completely normal not to feel anything yet! Don't worry!

@mrscaterosales it's true! They feel like gas movements sans gas. Usually at this point any movement between public bone and belly button is most likely baby!

Awe, so I probably felt baby girl swimming in there then!! I felt it again tonight when I sat down after a very busy day of errands and grocery shopping. It's so funny that I have to lie very still and wait for a fart to come hahahahaha, and if it doesn't come, I'm the happiest woman in the world! I told my husband, I don't have to fart, that means she's moving! =))

I'm 22 weeks and some change, I also have an anterior placenta. I feel pretty consistent "bubble" movements now, only a couple real kicks so far. But it's all getting stronger and more frequent every day. You'll feel baby soon!
  • I'm 20 weeks and think I've felt baby a few times but it's still iffy like it could have been gas. My doctor said I probably won't really feel her until I'm 23 weeks since I'm a first timer.
