17.4 weeks and no weight gain :/

Just wondering if anyone else is either not gaining weight or gaining very little in the second trimester. My belly has gotten noticeably bigger (as have a few other choice areas) but the scale isn't budging! I'm eating normally and even caving for sweets quite a bit but it doesn't seem to matter. Should I be concerned? I have my mid ultrasound next week so will obviously get the sign off then, but just wanted to see if anyone else was struggling with this too.

If your Doctor isn't worried, I wouldn't worry! I am 18 weeks and have only gained 4 pounds. I keep tracking my calorie in take and I feel like I'm not eating enough but my doctor told me not to force myself to over eat. Unless you are underweight to start, you don't need to gain a ton of weight at this point! Enjoy it while it lasts! :)

  • I'm 16 weeks but haven't gained anything either. But I'm happy about this because I was over weight to begin with. But I know it's only a matter of time for me. With my daughter I had only gained 10 lbs by 30 weeks then in the next 10 weeks gained another 40!! OMG. I don't want to do that again.
  • 16 weeks and today I was actually down 1 pound from my 12 week appt. My dr actually commented that he was super pleased with my weight. Im 190 so I really shouldn't be gaining all that much anyway.
  • I am 18 weeks pregnant with twins and have yet to gain any weight, however I did gain a huge baby bump ❤️
  • I am 17.4 weeks as well and I've lost 11.5 pounds during pregnancy! But baby is healthy and my ob said nothing to worry about that this is okay. I'm eating normally and also indulge in sweets but my weight is maintaining itself.
  • 16 weeks 4 days and down a lb I was at the doctors today and they weren't concerned
  • I'm 17 weeks and am down 2 lbs from my pre pregnancy weight. I'm 173 and 5' 5" so it's not a bad thing for me. Each person/pregnancy is different. I gained so much with dd that I'm glad I haven't packed on the lbs yet. As long as you and baby are getting the nutrients you need, I would worry about it.
  • 17.5 weeks. Down 11lbs. had an ultrasound today. Still no weight gain. but seen baby weighs half a pound. So yay! I say don't worry unless the doctor does.
  • I'm 17 weeks 3 days and have been going up and down. At this point I'm only up one pound. I started at a normal BMI. My belly is definitely getting better so I think I'm just losing weight elsewhere. My doctor hasn't said anything yet but I was up in weight the last time I went to the doctor. I think as long as we're eating when we're hungry, I don't see what else we can do. I'm sure it will be fine!!

I've only gained a pound in the past four weeks and before that I lost a few. But my belly and boobs have gotten bigger so obviously the babies are growing! As long as your doctor isn't worried, no need for you to. :)
  • I'm 17 weeks and haven't gained anything thus far (although I haven't been weighed in almost 4 weeks - have an appt. on Thursday). My belly and boobs are getting bigger, albeit not THAT big. I'm on the thicker side to begin with, my doctor hasn't mentioned there being anything wrong with this. I actually had a sonographer tell me that at this point, baby + fluid, blood, etc, = 15 lbs. So I have technically "lost" 15 lbs of fat which was replaced with baby. He said it was normal and healthy. My eating habits really haven't changed, the only thing I can think of is, maybe our metabolism gets higher due to being pregnant?
  • I haven't gained weight but my boobs and belly are huge. My doctor said that's good because it WILL happen and we will gain weight so it holding off isn't a bad thing! As long as you aren't like a twig you should be fine:)

15+6 here and all I've done so far is lose weight. Its slowly coming back on, but at this rate I wont be back to my pre-pregnancy weight by 20 weeks. As long as the doctors dont worry, you shouldnt either. Babies have their ways of sucking nutrition out of your system even if you dont get a whole lot of it yourself.

  • No weight gain here either 18w 5 days. I started off overweight so my doctor is ok with this and trust me I'm indulging in all my cravings! It seems to be a trend that those of us with a little more weight on us are gaining slowly. I think your body knows what I needs land how much to gain. I've seen very slim women gain 60 pounds but not look it at all! Human body is amazing!
  • Thanks for all the comments, everyone! Now if I can just convince my husband that I don't need to eat every 10 minutes, my sanity will improve :)

I am 18 weeks and 5 days, and have only gained about 3 pounds. However, I do have quite the bump
