My 10 week old baby has had bad gas since 2 weeks. I mostly breastfeed but supplement with formula. We just switched to a sensitive formula even. When she gets gassy she screams and cries during feedings. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas besides gas drops??
Re: Crying during feedings
Side note, secretbaba had a good point about the growth spurt. I downloaded the app The Wonder Weeks and it tells you when babies typically go through certain developments. So far I've found it to be helpful because she does seem to get fussier during those times. It gives me peace of mind knowing that it's not something I've done wrong. Hope this helps!
If she's overtired, over upset, or overstimulated, then she'll be fussy at the end of a feeding and root around as if she cannot find the nipple even though it's in her mouth! When this happens, I just hold her against my chest, turn on the white noise and rock her in a chair or walk around and sway and bounce. She'll be out in a minute!
If she's upset because of my over active letdown, she'll scream during the beginning and middle if eating. When this happens, once again, I calm her down by putting her to my chest and rocking or bouncing. I also take the time to burp her at this point. I omit the white noise because I'm not looking to put her to sleep. I also let my milk run until it goes from spraying to dripping. I may even express some to make sure it doesn't just spray again when she re-latches.
