Trouble TTC

TTTC Checkin - 05/05/2015

Good morning, everybody!

How is your week going?  Hopefully better than mine... I fell off of my brand new bicycle and broke some gear thingie on it and had to carry it half a mile home.   I've been trying to lose some weight to prepare for my next round of injects in a few months... something about medicated cycles make me gain major weight. Ugh.

Post any updates this week... and good luck this cycle!

Re: TTTC Checkin - 05/05/2015

  • I need to lose about 12 lbs to get back to my target weight.  Every time I do a medicated cycle, I gain about 5 to 6 lbs and have to work my butt off to get lose it.   To make things worse, fertility meds don't work as well when I'm overweight, so back to the gym and cycling I go!

GTKY:   I find myself either disinterested or slightly annoyed by the massive coverage of the royal baby.  I mean, good for them and everything I guess but the press is acting like they are the first couple in the world to give birth.   I wish them success but I think that the media has gone a bit too far with the coverage... at least where I live.

Luckily, people having babies doesn't affect me negatively. I'm in the age group where there's baby's falling from the sky...I am an auntie to so many cutie pies! My niece is named Charlotte and my friend had a baby a month ago and named her Charlotte...love it!

Working on improving egg quality by taking a mountain of supplements. I have to divide them up during the day because if I take them all at once my tummy hurts.

I'm reading the book "It starts with the egg" and so far everything my doctor recommended is in that book so I feel like I picked a really good RE.

IVF #1 Sep/Oct Microdose Lupron Protocol - IVF cancelled only 1 follicle
IVF #2 Feb/Mar Antagonist protocol w/estrogen priming - 0 eggs retrieved (empty follicle syndrome)
Donor Egg Cycle as soon as we find a match
  • I would take breaking something on my bike over straining my back... I couldn't even move by myself for the rest of the day much less BD when we were supposed to.

  • mandasand   I've been thinking about reading that book, let us know if it's worth it!

Crappy update day it seems...I just learned our 3rd medicated cycle didn't work and now we're faced with the decision of going through with a 4th one (or not) while I wait for my hysteroscopy in July. Tough decision, and I'm just getting impatient and discouraged.
Would also love to hear more about that book!

Week is going well just started my first clomid. Hoping for the best.

@GoldenKeys glad you did get hurt.

And I wanted to thank everyone for last week. Still not any easier but keeping positive.
  • Hello All! Looks like some of us aren't off to a great week. Hope the second part of the week is better for you all.

I have a pregnancy blood work on Monday. This is my second time trying IUI with clomid. This time around I haven't been obsessing over finding out if I'm pregnant. Probably because the odds aren't good, so figured I might as well not think about it. Spoke to my RE and if this IUI doesn't work we are going to start IVF. I'm a teacher and although I always work summer school and basketball camp I've decided to take the summer off to release the stress. Excited for summer and hoping for some positive news. 17 more way up days!!! :) I need summer because so many women in my department are pregnant and it's killing me when someone new announces their pregnancy. I just go back to my desk and usually cry, so I'm looking forward to be at home and relaxing.

@mandasand I heard about that book and was thinking of buying it to read. Is it good?

@mandasand what are you taking to improve your egg quality? My egg quality isn't the best and I'll do anything to help improve it. Thanks. :)

Hope everyone has a good rest of your week.
    Kristy
  • KidShrink  I'm so sorry about your BFN.  HUGS

jurba25   GL with the Clomid cycle.  I really hope that you don't get the sweats and the mood swings that I did...

@kristylang I'm surrounded by pregnant women too so I totally relate.  Some days it doesn't bother me and other days I just want to crawl into the closet and not come out!   FX  for your beta on Monday.

  • Busy week at work. Planning a large mothers day tea is taking a toll on me emotionally. I don't even know how I'm going to celebrate my own mama with out being a tearful mess. Good thing is AF is gone and it's time to start trying again but it's so hard to hold on to the hope. Have an ultrasound planned for early next week and more blood work for the following week. FX for all of us that the wait is almost over

    @kristylang my supplements are:
Prenatal vitamin with DHA, make sure it has 400 mg folic acid
1000 mg Fish oil capsules (omega 3)
    81 mg aspirin
    600 mg Co-enzyme-Q10
    1000 mg vitamin C

Hubby is on a similar supplement plan but he is taking a different multivitamin and increasing his zinc and vitamin E. It's also recommended that he drinks 3 cups of green tea a day.

chaconvanessa   I think I'm going to rip off your idea and serve an elegant afternoon tea to my mom for Mother's day.   I hope that your event goes well and GL with your new treatment cycle!

@kidshrink - so sorry. that is a bummer. i actually have an IRL friend going through the same thing - but she is definitely taking some time off. she says she needs to recoup.

chaconvanessa - we are doing afternoon tea for mother's day too, but we are going out. I hosted a birthday party brunch for my husband last week and I am spent.

We're in a bit of a holding pattern here since we're pausing till July for IVF in order to avoid a possible cancellation or total frozen cycle if I'm too late to avoid the lab shutdown in June. Hubby is going in for his SA this week to get things started though. Last time that made me feel so inadequate since he apparently has "amazing sperm." I'm just stacking the CoQ10, wheatgrass and maca in the meantime and waiting for my mammogram appointment (fun fact: over 40 means required mammogram before you start).

But we did put our deposit down to get on the donor egg list this week! I know not everybody is interested in this route, but it gives me great peace of mind that there's a backup. I had foster siblings growing up, so I think the need for genetics isn't as big for me.

Also, in upper news, *finally* got my root canal finished. It was so epic it took FOUR trips back to the endodontist. My mouth may hurt - but I am joyful that it's OVER.

  • Well, this weekend should be the telling time for me. I don't have high hopes, but it would amazing if I found out I was going to be a mother on mothers day. I have a balance to help with any disappointment though: I told my mom I made a reservation for her at Red Lobster for mothers day, but I really made a reservation last month at this fancy steakhouse she's been wanting to go to. I get my amusement where I can.

Gtky: the royal baby doesn't really effect me. It's mainly pregnancies in front of me - like one of my classmates and my instructor are both pregnant, and it's hard to listen to sometimes. And when dh was deployed it was worse; I had to leave the room when I heard babies talked about. Royal baby? Cute, love the name, but not really in the same league.

    @kittycap congratulations!

  • Happy Friday!
I am a lurker coming out to say Hi!

    To answer your Newbie Questions:
    1.  How long have you been TTC? We have been not preventing for about 3 and half years, and have been trying on our own for about a year and half. We are at the end of our 2nd cycle seeing an RE.
    2.  What is your diagnosis? I have a diagnosis of PCOS, but my RE seems to think that should not be impacting my chances of conception. I have never been pregnant and DH's SA is normal. I was diagnosed with PCOS via U/S and labwork. My HSG was also normal.
    3.  What is your current treatment plan? We just finished our first round of Clomid (100mg, Day 3-7) and timed intercourse. It was confirmed prior to this cycle that I am ovulating on my own. This cycle I had 3 follicles that matured. Unfortunately, I think AF is just around the corner. We are going to take the next cycle off because we are going on vacation, and then will give Clomid another try in June.

I look foward to getting to know you ladies!

  • Can you add me to the list?
TTC 10 months, PCOS with some MI factors, meds: metformin, femara, and Purgon injections with plan to IUI this cycle (same plan as last month but no ovulation)

The royal baby is exciting. Guess I'm more upset about everyone at work getting pregnant including my former IRL TTTC friend. Fx for all of us. The royal Baby is more a magazine picture and not real for me somehow.

    To answer your newbie questions:

    1. We are now onto cycle 11 of actively trying. It's been 3 years total since we stopped using birth control.

    2. No diagnosis yet, debating on whether to see the RE now or wait until January.

    3. Currently id like to get a few more charts under my belt and lose some weight. DH is not quite ready for the RE.

    Edit: word choice.
  • Hope everyone makes it through this day.
    Kristy
  • Had a pregnant blood work done today got a BFN. That was our last time trying with insemination. Now onto IVF. Anyone gone through IVF yet and can help me with what to expect?

Definitely having a beverage tonight. Feeling in the dumps. :(
    Kristy
  • @Kristylang I'm so sorry about your BFN.     There are a lot of women on the infertility board who are going through IVF cycles, you might want to lurk over there or make an intro!  HUGS... I hope that beverage made you feel a little better.
