1st Trimester

1st trimester and wisdom teeth removal

i really don't know where else to turn since I am currently freaking out. I learned that I need to get my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and there's pretty much no way of getting around it. I am 10 weeks and 5 days today and I am really terrified of losing the baby because of this. Is it safe to get my teeth out this early? I've been reading nothing but horror stories about first trimester teeth removals and I believe I am even more freaked out now then before. Please any one if you can help.

Re: 1st trimester and wisdom teeth removal

  • Is your dentist aware you are pregnant? Why can't the surgery be moved? I would think it would be hard to give to proper pain medication while pregnant, but I'm not a dentist. What does your doctor say?

  • I am a dental assistant all the dentists I worked for the past 11 years will not do any kind of dental treatment in the first trimester. The only reason to get them out in the first trimester is if there is infection and causing a health risk to yourself. Other than that the safest time is in your second trimester.
  • After all these years, my first wisdom tooth decided to pop through the skin at my 11 week mark. No issues yet, so we are waiting until after the baby arrives to remove it. Were you able to get the surgery pushed back?
