What can I do about a cold?

Urgh. I have a nagging cough and a runny nose....is there anything I can take?

My doctor gave me a list of medications that was safe to take while pregnant for different things. I'd call and ask your doctor's nurse or check with the pharmacist when you go to buy medication to be safe.

I have this same problem right now. I went to my doc today and she thinks it's a sinus infection, with perhaps a side of viral bronchitis. Woohoo!

Good news is, I've got some amoxycillin to clear out the sinus infection and was cleared to take Delsym for the cough--the latter has already been great today and I am hoping means I will actually get to sleep tonight!

    Good luck!

When I have a cold, I take Elderberry syrup. Check with your doctor to make sure the one you are taking is fine but mine has been okayed.

Call your OB, they should have a list, tylenol and tylenol cold are okay on my list and the regular robitussin (no alcohol or add on one). I at the start of a cold add in vitamin C & D. Got the OK from OB for that also. It is rough being sick pregno and not able to take much. Hope you feel better soon.

I just got over a cold and highly recommend K cup Vitamin Burst Tea if you have a Keurig. It is soothing, tastes good and is packed with vitamin C. I make it hot rather than cold.

Pregnant or not I'm all about the orange juice when I'm sick. I'm convinced it helps! I get the vitamin C enriched stuff. Feel better!

It's a cold! I think taking anything over the counter is a waste. Well at least for me, none of that stuff ever works. Just ride out the few days with plenty of rest, fluids, and maybe some decaf hot tea.

My dr told me I can take Tylenol, airborne or emergen-c.

My midwife had me take Elderberry syrup.

I've been dealing with my sinuses the past week or so (Spring allergies, yay!)... Just taking Tylenol for pain and trying to stay super-hydrated.

If you're dealing with sinus issues, hot showers/baths help loosen mucus and you could look into a neti pot

Agree with pp about just taking care of yourself, drinking warm liquids, and taking hot showers. We have colds too. Keep having to remind myself to rest. Feel better!!!!
