i woke up this morning and was wet , I thought I had peed on myself, I go to the bathroom and my underwear was soaked and it was bright red blood ! I just sat on the toilet for 5 min in shock . I just found out Monday that the baby is a boy , I thought I lost my baby and I couldn't move . Well me and my fiancé went to the ER and I'm just a mess crying . They checked my cervix for dialating and it wasn't. Checked my hormones and they are normal. Did a sonogram, saw the baby just as active as ever with a heartbeat. They said they have no idea why I would be bleeding and take it easy and follow up with my OB in 48 hours . Has anyone expierenced such heavy bleeding? How can this be? I'm relieved but not entirely cause I don't know what's wrong .

Wow, I'm sorry you had to go through that but so happy ur baby is okay!! I have had a friend who has bled during her first trimester and into her second because of something to do with irritation of something, I don't remember exactly what but it would cause bleeding while the baby was perfectly safe. I had another friend who had a placenta abruption who woke up in a pool of blood and she was in bed rest for five months and delivered a healthy baby boy!! They definitely would have checked for that I'm sure because it's serious. But it is possible to have bleeding and for the baby to be safe. I'm so glad you and baby are okay!! Hope the bleeding doesn't last!

  • I've never been through this, but I'm glad to hear you got to see an active little baby boy in there and that cervix of yours is still sealed up! Best of luck, try not to stress and rest with your feet up. Feel better >:D<

  • What a terrifying situation! So glad to hear your baby is doing ok. Like others have said, try to relax and not stress (easier said than done, I know). Sending you, your husband and your baby positive thoughts.

  • My best friend just went through the same thing. A blood clot ruptured and landed her in the ER. All is well and she just has a few more Dr. Appts than most.
  • So scary! Glad your little peanut is healthy.
  • So glad everything is okay.
  • You could be having a sch its common in pregnancy if you were checked out in the er and were cleared that's good , rest no lifting anything try to not walk too much either , check in with your doctor asap so a u/s can be done if its not that inwaas told it could have been a low lying placenta and that's what caused the bleed may I just suggest don't google anything till you talk to your doctor google scared the lights out of me and made me worry more than I needed. Hope u feel better ! Oo and if for any reason u come down with a fever to to the er.

I don't have first hand experience with this but my cousin had bleeding off and on for all of her pregnancy and she still delivered a perfectly healthy little guy (he will be one very soon and no health problems at all). I didn't know this was even possible until she told me that. Anyway, so glad that you are safe and baby is active! Miracles happen, I mean every baby is already a miracle lol. I would definitely check with your doctor as soon as you can, to be safe :)

  • I just had this on Thursday. I was 13 weeks, 14 weeks now. Exact same scenario. Woke up and had bled through my pants. Went to ER. Baby is fine. Went to doctor next day and she says I had a subcoreonic hemorrhage. It's pretty common. I have been in bed rest ever since and very glad because I've had spotting every day since. Basically there's blood in uterus and as placenta gets bigger it squeezes the blood out. Apparently it's not an issue but they need to make sure you don't have many of those hemorrhages that could happen again soon. Having an ultrasound today to make sure it's all good. I'm feeling optimistic and you should too. I've known a few people that had it. Just take it easy. Literally only getting up to pee kinda thing. My doctor wrote me a note to take off work and it has been getting better each day since. Hope everything's ok. I can update again after appointment in a few hours if you'd like.
  • I am so glad you got it checked and that you and your baby are ok.
I hope that they can give you answers, and that you and baby stay healthy. Will be thinking of you xO
  • @abbythebigdiehl please keep me updated with your results ! Best of luck to you !!!!
  • Thank you ladies for all the kind words, I will take it easy and definitely keep you posted on how my ob appointment goes Friday also !
  • Did they check for placenta previa? Also very common during early pregnancy.
  • I had a blood vessel on my placenta pop during my last pregnancy and I thought for sure I lost the baby. They were able to see the vessel on an ultrasound, so hopefully that's the case. It fixes itself over time.
  • @kburks09 my doctor says I look great and baby is perfect. I've been spotting after that initial bleed but it's progressively gotten less each day. I'm so glad I had time off to rest and let my boy heal. I hope you have the same opportunity. But as scary as it was, I think I realized how tough our babies can be. Mine didn't even seem to notice what was happening. It sounds like we have had similar experiences and I'm praying yours will be very similar. Only good news from my side which I hope brings you some peace. Please let me know if I can help in some way.
  • I had heavy bleeding at 12w and went to ER. We still have no clue why I bled (5 weeks later), and baby is healthy and just a'moving in there. keep your head up. The ladies on this board were great to keep me going and keep me positive. :)
  • I'm 14 weeks and since Saturday spotting when I go to the bathroom. Usually twice a day- once morning once evening. Im so uneasy being unsure of the cause. My Dr is away so I saw someone else who didn't do an exam just listened for the heartbeat which is still strong. It's comforting to hear that with even heavier bleeding things can be fine
  • Omg! The same thing happened to me last weekend. I was soaked. Then it let up. Then I got up at 2am to tinkle and the toilet was filled. I was terrified and cried all the way to the hospital. I had just had an ultrasound 2 days before and my little girl was great. It turned out be nothing and they still don't know why I was bleeding. Cervix was closed too! No one told me about this part of pregnancy :-( But, I'm glad both our babes are ok. Next week will be 15! Yay!
  • That happened to me (previous pregnancy) I had placentia abruptio and found out with an ultrasound. I was put on be dress the rest of pregnancy. I'm happy to hear your baby is okay.
  • Happened to me at almost 9 weeks terrified went to the ER and baby was fine. SCH apparently but no bleeding since then and a healthy nugget
  • It happened to me 2 weeks ago, woke up gushing and passing a huge clot. I was diagnosed with sub chorionic hematoma and am on bed rest. I've had 2 scans since but not seen a reduction in the clot. Good luck and take it easy, it's so scary but baby is healthy, like mine :)

I had the same situation at 10 weeks and found that the placenta was migrating to where it needed to be higher in the uterus, and apparently that causes bleeding in some women. I'm now 18 weeks and everything appears to be looking normal.... such a scary thing to go through but so happy you and baby are okay.
  • same thing happened to me after sex the night before we got my ultra sound for ny due date, i was 8 weeks at the time. legit looked like a murder scene it was insane nd terrifying. i apparently had a small subchronic hemorrhage. never heard of it until now. i am now 16 weeks nd haven't had any issue since then. i continued to bleed out red the next day but amount got smaller nd smaller. just had an ultra sound recently nd was confirmed the hhemorrhage was gone!
