3rd Trimester

Tender spot next to belly button

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I'm fairly Certain it's just a bruise on the inside from the babys kicks but it would be reassuring to hear from other ladies that had the same thing. I have an Ob appointment Tuesday so i'll ask then too .
Anyway, it's just a small tender spot when I press on it . It's about an inch or less to the left of my belly button. My skin in that spot is a little sensitive too.
Has anyone else had this ?
Baby still moving fine and no other alarming symptoms.

Thanks in advance!!

  • I've had this too and totally forgot to mention it at my appointments. Mine is a couple of inches to the right of my belly button. It feels as if my skin should be bruised or scratched but it's not. I'm sure it's nothing and my guess is that the growing belly and stretching of the skin may be hitting a nerve somewhere.

  • Well it's defintely reassuring that you have it too (even though it kinda sucks). But mine is exactly the same. I feel like I should see a scratch or bruise but I dont.
It probably is nothing but I'm definitely gonna ask and see what they say at my next appointment . I have a biophysical with that appointment so I'm sure if there were even the slightest thing wrong, they'd prbably see it.
  • I've also had a tender spot there. I wasn't overly concerned either and figured it was just another fun third trimester surprise.
I had an ultrasound a few weeks ago to check out a different problem and the technician warned me in advance that she might hit some sensitive spots and to let her know. So my guess, random sensitive spots are quite normal.

  • I have it too. Might be a hernia that only manifested itself once your belly started to stretch. Basically, a small hole in your lining is there and your intestine can poke through.  Told my midwife and she said more than likely that's what it was.  It poses no threat, and I could have it "fixed" after baby arrives, but she said once that happens, I probably won't notice it again until the next baby (if that happens lol).
  • I have had the same exact pain in that same spot. My doctor said it just happens to be a spot where the baby is pushing a lot. She could tell from the ultrasound and feeling my belly that it was just the baby trying to make room. She also said that if the pain got to be too much that I could apply I've to the area for short periods of time and the baby would move because they don't like cold. I have not had to use ice but it's good to know I'm not the only one with that pain.

I have it too and asked my ob. He said it was just an internal bruise. Nothing to worry about.
