HAHAHAHAHA! Last time I was pregnant I had a peanut butter and jam sandwhich and my little sister (21 at the time), said, "Should you be eating that? Because my pregnant friend said that peanuts cause allergies if pregnant women eat them." I said your pregnant friend is nuts....... I like my peanut butter.
This is actually not a stupid question at all. There was a huge campaign in Britain to tell pregnant/nursing women to stop eating any type of peanut product because it was theorized it could cause allergies. This was dogma for a while, especially in people that have a family history of food allergies. Then Great Britain was found to have a peanut allergy epidemic. It turns out that it is actually better to expose the baby to peanut, it lowers the chance of allergy. In fact, peanut allergy is lowest in cultures where babies are weaned on peanuts. Soooo, I would say, eat your peanut butter. But iif you are a real health nut like m, try to make it Valencia, the other types have some kind of unhealthy mold on them.

I've been eating it to get protein because I don't eat a lot of meat. I also eat trail mix with lots of nuts in it. I recently read something about avoiding peanuts while PG for that exact reason, but I put it in the "not going to worry about" category.
Re: Can I eat peanut butter?
Gosh, rouge...I AM serious. I mean, giving an epi-pen through amniotic fluid? I'm not trained to do that!!
I just died laughing. I literally did a double-take.
well i'm having these problems.... what it stems from... are the paint chips i ate as a small child.
Just put Scotch tape over your abdomen and stick the needle in, like you would with a balloon. Works every time.
Maybe your mother ate peanut butter when she was pg with you??
(I'm kidding. Your mother is a lovely person & I mean no disrespect)
BLAIR. don't go soft!! Kristin can handle it, lol!
LOL
lolz, but I must draw the line somewhere. Potentially insulting a mother is it.
BUT DID SHE EAT PEANUTS, KRISTIN??????

Thank you for your maturity, I'm sure the original poster respects it.
I was encouraged to eat peanut butter by my nurse - it has good protein in it and is better than eating other condiments, with the exception of honey.
I would try smooth peanut butter, organic if possible - its easier to digest.
