24 hour urine test?!!

So I went to my OB on Tuesday and was told to pee in a container that I was given for 24 hours I'll be giving them my urine tomorrow at another appt I have set up with my doctor has anyone else gone thru this?
And did you guys get the results the same day?

I had this done last Monday. I went to my appointment on Monday to follow up for high blood pressure. Was told I would be induced the following Monday. Dr asked for 24 hours of urine to rule out pre-e and wanted to make sure it was just high BP. I went in the next day to drop off my sample, was asked to stay over night, my BP was 156/104...typically my BP reads 140/80. Urine results came back normal but was induced on Wednesday since my BP was getting worse. Had our little girl at 36 weeks 2 days. 6 pounds, 11 oz. 20 inches. Perfectly healthy and sleeps like a champ.

What symptoms did you have for your doctor to request a 24 hour urine sample?

I've been having high blood pressure recently and I'm scared they'll ask me to stay im 38weeks and 1 day as of tomorrow but I don't think he's ready to come out yet..

Omg! I was told yesterday that protein was getting in my urine. So they sent me to label and delivery to be monitor for four hours. After that they gave me a container to collect urine in for 24 hours, but my case I don't have high blood pressure. So Friday I will take it back and I will know something then.

yes, i am going through this now. i am 39w6d and my bp is super high. in addition to doing the 24 hour urine, they are double checking my bp today. induction might be the next step at this point. all i care about is delivering my sweet boy safely!

I have done this three times already for this pregnancy. I have had high blood pressure for weeks and they just wanted to make sure it wasn't pre-e too. You should have results the same day or next day. My doctor is bad about calling with results but I see them twice a week for NST tests. So they usually tell me then. It's not a big deal to bring it back with you. You can always put it in a shopping bag if you feel uncomfortable.

@jty126 - I am surprised they induced you at that point. My blood pressure has been higher than that but my doctor doesn't want to induce me this early. I have been high for about three weeks and I am finally hitting 37 weeks tomorrow. They keep saying they want to wait until 39 weeks unless I start to show more complications.

I did the 24hr urine test twice due to BP concerns, once at around 16w (to get baseline) and then again at 36w (to see changes). Thankfully pre-e was ruled out, but my numbers tripled the second time around. Doc wasn't that concerned since biweekly NST results were perfect and I had no other symptoms/issues. They plan to induce at 39w1d due to BP... Today!!

I've done it twice already since March because I have high blood pressure. The first time I did it, the results were normal. This time around I'm not sure. We'll see today.

I have to do this also . I JUST got my container today. He was worried because I came in with a a really bad headache and I gained 6 pounds in 5 days ! Like what!!!! I was so suprised because I haven't been able
To eat or anything. .. I just haven't been hungry and then he tells me I gained 6 pounds . I hope it's not pe-e

Yep. I had to at 36 wks 5 days. I had to start on a Sunday and bring back the following monday. I've never had BP problems! Plus my us was showing the baby as small, so we were seriously worried at that point. My Midwife set up an app that with a perinatal doctor for that same Monday. BP was up the roof at that appt and he sent me to Labor and delivery. I had my baby boy the next day Tuesday 4/14/15 at 37 weeks. He was 5 lbs 9oz. 19ins. Me loves him to death and my BP is still high....

I'm doing this now and taking my samples in tomorrow. This came about because I went in for my appointment on Thursday and my BP was higher than normal for me and I had trace amounts of protein in my urine. Doc sent me to L&D for labs and monitoring and I passed everything with flying colors so they sent me home with the jug and told me to watch out for signs of pre-e. I've had some swelling in my feet but that's it. Anyway, I suspect they'll induce ... So I guess I'll see this week.

@krystal525 I'm on the same boat blood pressure is high and haven't gotten my results from my 24 hour urine test so waiting for tomorrow and I also think I might get induced on Thursday keep me updated on your progress girl.

@young&beautiful Definitely! I've heard that you get the urine results pretty quickly so hopefully you'll know tomorrow. In the meantime, try not to worry too much, Momma. It will be what it is--and we'll get through it.

So I still haven't heard the results on my
urine. I'm hoping that means they found nothing but I go in tomorrow for my 39 week check-up so I'll find out either way.

Anyone else have an update?

All tests have come back normal for me so we're going to my due date, which is Tuesday--and possibly beyond.
