CIO vs .....

my LO is 8 1/2 months old. He crawls and now pulls up to a standing position. I was a good sleeper as a baby, then around 4 months began waking every hour (and I would nurse) then got the magic slee suit and he slept 4-5 hour stretches. Once we rolled over in the suit (6months) that was over. From then on it was been us rocking him to sleep and it takes hours. I finally got him off nursing during the night but then teething happened. Long story short I really don't like CIO but I don't see another way.

Last night I thought I would give CIO a try. He went down easy cause he was sleepy (8pm), he was up standing in his crib at 10:45. I let him cry (I sat next to crib and tried to calm him without picking him up) till 1:00am. He never calmed down. I gave in and picked him up. He cried in my arms for 30 min. I went to living room to kind of start over. We sat in the dark and he was just begging for the boob. At 1:45 I gave in and nursed.

He would of stayed up all night! He slept till 5:45 :( I nursed again and he slept till 7:30.

Now he won't go down for a nap!

I have read books and I just wish he would just go to sleep.

Re: CIO vs .....

  • My daughter won't nap unless I hold her or she sleeps in my bed. At night I have to rock her and she refuses to sleep in her crib.

That sounds really rough!! Since we lost the magic sleep suit and then teething started we've been up more too. Right now he flips himself onto his stomach while he is asleep, wakes up in this new position, then cries so I go in and flip him back. Some friends tell me I should just let him figure it out and let him cry, but I just can't listen to it. I figure one day he'll get it. I keep looking forward to the day he's a teenager and I have to pull him out of bed, hah!
