Hello Ladies,
I am about to go in labor any day now (hopefully). My MIL is staying with us for a month. Yesterday she asked me if I shaved my lady parts to get ready for delivery. I wasn't going to...I can't see down there. So she volunteered to do it for me... awkward. She kept insisting. So now I am worried. Do need to have it cleaned up before the delivery? Does it matter? Are you guys doing it or have done it for past deliveries?

MIL.... No way

They do shave you before a c-section but it's not a full-on shave everything. it's just the top part that would be near the sight of where they open you up. Honestly if you are having a cesarean I would shave that top part on your own because the hospital uses really cheap disposable razors that I'm sure would cause some yucky razor burn.
To be fair though, I did get sugared recently but this was for me, not my coworkers!! Do whatever you feel is best for you
I just read the original post to my MIL, whis here til the 7th, and she was disgusted by the idea... I mean, I wouldn't let my own hubby go at my nethers with a razor, so I'd certainly not let my MIL, both for awkwardness and general fear of being sliced up.
I asked my MW if it mattered and she said absolutely not. She suggested, if you're uncomfortable, keeping it short before delivery only for post partum ease of care (because of swelling, bleeding or tearing). So, unless its 1971 down there, I wouldnt worry.
For aftercare. You bleed a lot and i don't feel like having to clean that up every time I use the bathroom.
Shaving can actually introduce infection (if you were to get cut accidentally) & they don't do it any more. It's entirely up to personal preference.
My MIL passed away almost 8 years ago, but I think she'd sooner have shaved all her hair off her head before asking me about my pubic hair. Lol
