When I took the depo shot I gained about 30 pounds

it was horrible.. I heard it makes you crave stuff and I didn't watch what I eat and did no exercise so that's why but if you decide to take it just be careful

I loved the shot for years until my forgetfulness of taking a calcium supplement led to a broken bone. No period, no cramps... I just wasn't good enough at remembering vitamins. I can't say it made me gain weight but I used to work out a lot at the time....

I gained a ton of weight on the shot. I also bled for a year straight. I was so hormonal, a completely different person. It was the worst thing ever, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

@Chuggles1013 I'm sorry you had that experience, it sounds awful!! Just try to remember that it isn't universal. For example, I have PCOS and Endometriosis, and my periods are excruciating, can last for weeks, render me incapacitated in bed, and have even landed me in the hospital from complications more than once.

For me, depo stops my periods and pains completely, keeps me from having flakes of PCOS so no painful cysts that sometimes have to be surgically removed, and it even keeps my Endo at bay. It is an absolute godsend for me; I can't imaging what I'd do without it!

@stellarsoundz I have endo also and while I haven't been dx with Pcos, I do have cysts that rupture and land me in the hospital at least once a year. The shot was awful for me.

I'm really glad the shot works for you, I wish I could find something that helps me, sounds so great for you!

It was a long road of trial and error before my OBGYN and I discovered how well it works for me, but it has been a blessing every moment since...

I hope you find something that works for you sooner than later! It's awful going through with no solution

I took the depo two years ago and lost 14 lbs the first month. I switched to the nuva ring as soon as possible afterwards.
