Baby Names

I want to love Alexander, but...

it is so popular. I am an elem teacher and so many of my students have this name. It is a good solid name, sounds good with our last name, and fits with our sibset but it is everywhere and I feel getting a bit boring. And to top it off my BFF has named her most recent Alex.

Thoughts? I don't know if I want to be talked into it or out of it at this point...

  • How about Alistair/Alasdair? Scottish form of Alexander.

  • I am in the same position (except we are naming our son Benjamin). I was worried about popularity, but it is a name I love so we are sticking with it. I say go with it.

    What about Alec
  • I think it's a little boring. Especially wouldn't use it if a friend just did. I like Alec, classic but not everywhere.
  • I like PPs suggestion of Anders.
