2nd Trimester

Worried, not a lot/no movement at 20 weeks +6 days

I'm 20 weeks & 6 days pregnant with my first child and only feel my little boy move around rarely. Has anyone else had this? And when did you start feeling it properly :-S

Re: Worried, not a lot/no movement at 20 weeks +6 days

  • Movements don't become consistent until about 28wks. It could also be the position of your placenta. Mine is in the front so I only feel baby girl a few times a day. But completely normal not to always feel baby

  • My placenta is also in the front, and aside from one random kick at 18 weeks, i didn't feel anything until 21 weeks.  And i didn't feel movement on a daily basis until about 28 weeks.  Even now at 32 weeks, i don't feel her constantly or anything.  A few times a day, yes, but not constantly.  It depends a lot on where she's positioned, and how i'm sitting/laying down at the time.  I just think she's pretty chill and not incredibly active, which i'm sure i'll be thankful for when she comes out!  this is nothing to worry about.
  • Yes exactly as others have said also if you are busy or not paying attention you could miss feeling them when they are actually happening.
  • No worries!!!  I didn't start feeling it until about 22wks.  I am now 24 and feel it more regularly, but down very low.  My placenta is in the front, so once the baby gets bigger, I'll start to feel more around the middle area...........and where I'd feel more comfortable having people feel it as well haha.  I only let my husband put his hand at the bottom of my belly, too close for comfort to my privates for others LOL  :)

Stay calm.  I was VERY impatient about this!!!!!!!!
  • I felt my daughter alot from about 20 to 22 weeks. I'm almost 23 weeks and I hardly feel her move at all. My placenta is also in the front so hopefully I'll be feeling her alot more soon. Baby's also start sleeping alot during this point in pregnancy. Don't worry. This is my first child and I can't wait to feel those precious kicks all the time!
  • I'm 20 + 5 and I have just barely started to feel baby move and I really have to lay there for awhile before I can feel anything. I was getting worried but my dr said I may not really feel things until I'm 23 weeks... I don't have an anterior plancenta (I think not anyway) so I guess I just don't notice it. Although I do notice that she will start moving at night, if I lay there in the morning or afternoon she almost never moves.
  • Thank you so much girls! Was a little bit worried but you'd have put my mind to rest xxx
