Bikinis...?

Personally, I'm not usually a fan of pregnant ladies in bikins. Just a personal preference I guess. However, I'm debating on it this time because I'm still barely showing. We have a beach trip coming up and I'll be 18 weeks when we leave. I'm 15 right now and still haven't gained one pound (although I do have a small pooch) I just can't decide if I should stick with a maternity bathing suit or go ahead and flaunt my little bump. Lol I'm young but definitely modest for my age. Just looking for opinions!

Re: Bikinis...?

  • I just got back from FL and I opted for a tankini instead of my regular bikini. I felt very bloated the whole time I was there. I am in an awkward stage, thicker tummy and no real bump. BUT I packed all of my cute suits because I think a little bump is cute:). If you got it flaunt it!!

  • Wear whatever makes you comfortable. If you're going to be obsessing over your pooch the whole time then cover up so you don't ruin your own trip.

  • I was like 6-8 months pregnant from June-August wearing a bikini when pregnant with my son ! And I didn't have a small belly HAHAHAHA ! I wouldn't worry about it !! Pregnant bellys are all so adorable !
  • I honestly don't think anyone would think anything if it if you wore a bikini. Just make sure that if your boobs have grown, you don't risk popping out of your top! ;)

  • A lot can happen in a couple weeks. If you think you will feel uncomfortable in a bikini with a bigger belly I would bring a maternity tankini or whatever with you, too. Just in case.

I'm going to be in Florida may 31st for a week and bought a tankini from target. I don't care if pregnant women are in bikini's, but I'd feel funny personally. Now especially with having an 11 mth old and being pregnant again I'm not exactly toned like I ws at the beginning of my first pregnancy. Lol
  • I'm totally rocking a bikini this summer.  I didn't find a single maternity suit that I liked but I found a ton of bikini's so I figured it was a sign.  lol  I think pregnant ladies rocking bikini's are cute!

We leave for a Disney cruise to the Bahamas in two weeks and I went back and forth over this. I normally ware bikinis but still thought I would be uncomfortable in one with a bump, my SO had me try one on and I felt great in it! I have two pre teen girls who surprisingly loved me in a bikini too:) I plan on bringing a cami to put on top of it if I start feeling uncomfortable. Do what you feel comfy in!
  • I live in Hawaii (just for a little while, military!) and EVERYONE here shows off the bikini bump.  Locals, tourists, everyone!  I say go for it if you are comfortable!  If you are looking to be slightly modest, you can always try a cute wrap around your waist :)

I have nothing against pregnant women in bikinis, but I personally will be opting for the most modest one piece I can find (assuming I can't squeeze into last year's suit). I have the "apron belly" going on and THAT having over a bikini bottom is NOT cute.

Once my baby bump rounds out, and I look pregnant,  I think I will wear a bikini. My real problem is how am I going to conceal "the girls", I am currently a 32 DDD. Any suggestions?

Bra-sized bathing suit! You can find bikinis in bra sizes.

Trust me I have been looking, but haven't come across any. Maybe I am looking in all the wrong places. Store suggestions? I don't want to spend a fortune. 32 DDD bras are even difficult to find.

We have a couple weekend trips planned and I'm not wearing a maternity suit. I pulled out the bikinis from last year and they seem to cover enough. I'm not shy and I figure that no one really cares. Maybe a loose white cami to keep from burning would be helpful.

Look up Bravissimo. They're located in the UK, but will ship internationally. I don't know how much you want to spend, so it might be out of your budget, but it's worth a glance.

I totally understand where you're coming from because I was a 34DD before babies and now I'm even bigger!

  • I hate the thought of even wearing a bathing suit let alone while pregnant! Lol! Some of you look adorable in bikinis though, if I looked like that I'd probably rock one too!

@FLY77 i would wear bikini bottoms with your regular bra and a tiny tank over top...that way your breasts are secure, but nobody will know you are wearing a bra top.

Have you not seen any on Victoria's Secret? I have one from last summer (in my normal boob size... : \)  and it's great.
  • We are at Disney this week and I had to pack a bikini because my maternity tankini is still a baggy tent on me and looked so ridiculous. I ended up not taking my cover up off because I felt uncomfortable for some reason. I'm thin and look obviously pregnant (baby #3) but I just couldn't do it. Wish I had time to shop before we left. Oh well!

I just want to say I'm absolutely loving this post. I'm a FTM and I plan on wearing a bikini this summer. I love the encouragement
  • Hail yeah, ladies. Really, wear whatever makes you comfortable and confident. Bring a couple options in case you have a "omg I'm a whale" day haha and don't think everyone looking at you is staring in disgust. Pregnancy is beautiful and a miracle. Some look in awe and others could be looking with envy or just remembering when they were pregnant :)

I'm planning to wear bikinis this summer (may have to get some new top pieces though!). I don't like any of the maternity one pieces, don't feel like spending that much on something I'll barely wear, and ultimately, I freaking hate trying to take a wee in a one piece....preggo ladies pee a lot so....   :))

I would wear one if I was away from home on vacation. I would be more modest if I was at the local community pool or something.
  • @ChristyD6 you look great! My stomach is huge compared to that at 40 weeks. Not sure I'll be able to even walk on the beach if my stomach is as big with this pregnancy. Im not a big girl, but carry big for whatever reason!
  • Ugh maternity bathing suits are not flattering at all... just came back from Florida and wore a bikini.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I'll pack both & hopefully be able to find enough confidence to wear my bikini! Lol
  • I didn't look good in a bikini before getting pregnant so there's no way you'd find me in one now! With my last pregnancy (daughter born late July) I practically lived in my maternity tankini for the last month or two. So I hope I find a cute one this time around.
