  • Lifelong sufferer and I've never found a natural remedy that works, try as I might. But Claritin is safe to take during pregnancy.

  • Hot water lemon and honey. Or if you like milk, use milk instead :) I also suggest getting a warm towel and putting it over your eyes, or even Thai food ;) clears my sinuses like crazy! And it's delicious :)
  • I had a sinus infection during pregnancy and my OB recommended Claritin which I always have liked and so glad I can take it pregnant (must get the one for allergy and congestion) and also she suggested a Neti Pot. You can do it up to twice a day and it takes like a minute. I bought the porcelain pot so it wouldn't collect bacteria, you just wash like a dish. And I microwave the water for 45seconds so it's like warm. The powder to make the solution comes with it. The first time I used it, I felt pressure lift off my eyes. I know it sounds weird, but it really helped. I do it once a week or so.
  • I totally feel you! Allergies are definitely not fun, but they also somehow seem rougher when pregnant!

To kick mine to the curb (and I recently had some gross post nasal drip and a sinus infection) I started taking Zyrtec to help curb the symptoms through the day, and then just before bed would take a warm bath (steam helps soothe the throat) as well as did a Neti Pot to clean out my sinuses and gargled salt water. If I was having trouble sleeping, I would take one Benadryl to help dry things up and allow me to sleep through the night.

It took a few days for all of my symptoms to subside, but before the week was up I was feeling MUCH better! (And was able to get rid of the sinus infection before having to go to the MD for antibiotics! :)

I hope this helps, and that you start feeling better soon! Quick side note: Some medications aren't good to take for allergies while pregnant (e.g. Nasal sprays), but both Benadryl and Zyrtec are on the safe list. If you have something you like to use for allergies, I suggest maybe checking with your OB first just in case :)
  • Gah! I wish I could rid myself of allergies. I'm on Zyrtec and Singulair. My allergies kick up my asthma so the singulair really helps.
I can't take benadryl because it causes my restless leg issues to be A LOT worse.
  • I take Benadryl or Claritin. I can't find any natural solutions. But both those you can take being pregnant. I pass out with Benadryl which is nice since I don't get much sleep anyway. I can't fight the Benadryl.
  • I take Zyrtec and Flonase every day and they are the only things that work for my allergies.

I use lavender essential oil. Its a natural antihistomine and safe while pregnant. I also defuse purify oil cause it helps take allergens out of the air.
Hope you get relief soon! Allergies are no fun!!!

Milk increases mucus, so dairy is not recomended as it can make it thicker.
