I had this with my first because of high BP. I actually enjoyed it because I got to see my Baby every week. And then listen to the heart beat. Just sit back and relax and enjoy the sounds.
Do you mean Non Stress Tests (NSTs)? They are simple, just take time. they just hook the baby up to a heart rate monitor and you track movements. Whenever the baby moves/kicks, there should be an inflection in the heart rate.
It's actually a non-stress test. They put you on a monitor to see baby's heart rate and uterine activity. This way they can get an idea of how the baby is doing under "no stress." The test should take about 30 minutes. In a 20 minute period, your nurse should be able to see 2 accelerations or jumps in the baby's heart rate. This lets your doctor know the baby is well oxygenated and that everything is going ok.
Try to have a snack before and drink plenty of water. That way you won't be there all day.
Had a checkup today and my OB told me I start mine at 32 weeks. My BP has been normal so far but I guess cause I have a history and maybe she thinks it's going to go up again. Anyhow I'm excited to see my LO every week.
Had a normal check up scheduled this morning. Baby's HR was in the 90s, so I'm having the nst done now. Having good variation, but a little worried with how low the HR keeps going. RN doesn't seem too concerned and has been great answering all my questions. Baby is thankfully cooperating nicely and wiggling all over! My regular OB is gone today, so hopefully I'll hear back soon about how everything went!
