We're getting close to the end, and I know it's getting harder and harder to remember why we agreed to do this, but let's reminisce on the good times. What's your favorite/funniest/weirdest/most heart-warming memory of your pregnancy?
Seeing my baby on 3D ultrasound for the first time at 14 weeks. I had actually never seen an ultrasound in person until my own. I felt like a goober & I couldn't stop grinning the whole time. I was nowhere close to showing so it was just amazing to see a baby in there with no signs on the outside it made it a lot more real for me. When she revealed it was a girl I was estatic. Great now I'm tearing up ha.
I don't have just one moment, but several. Hearing his heartbeat for the first time was an amazing feeling. My second child passed from SIDS when he was 6 weeks. My oldest (who is 9) has been bugging me for a sibling for years. He misses his little brother and had many meltdowns over the heartache he would feel because "everyone else had a brother or sister and he didn't" even though he did and he knew it. The first time he felt this LO kick is a big one for me. The look in his eyes was priceless! Also, every time I would get something new for the baby he would be so ecstatic and want to check it out!
This second pregnancy has been exciting and fun because I'm able to see it through the eyes of my 3-year-old son, too. Most days he talks to my baby bump and says, "Hello baby!" or sings it a song. When we meet people who ask about the baby's arrival, he'll say things like, "My baby is going to be here in May!"
Seeing the 2nd and 3rd ultrasounds! The first one was really anticlimactic because their machine was horrible and LO was just a blob. The 2nd, my H didn't get to go to and it was really amazing seeing how much LO changed from 8 weeks to 12 weeks. If I had known, I would've made him come. The 17 week US H came to and he was blown away by the detail. We were there for an hour just staring at him!
My favorite moment was how I let DH know I was pregnant. I could barely keep myself from texting him all day after I found out in the morning. I wrote him a note and put it on the bathroom counter for him with the test on it. He came out of the bathroom with the best look on his face. It's hard to describe the feeling!
That and hearing the heartbeat for the first time with him holding my hand.
There are so many moments. I loved telling people we were pregnant. Everyone was so surprised. Including DH. We got pregnant very quickly (fortunately) and he was shocked thinking it could never happen that fast.
Feeling little baby flutters for the first time on Christmas Eve was one of my favourites for sure. And also watching baby's first BIG movement in my stomach when we shone a flashlight on it. The look on DH's face was one I'll never forget!!!
My 12wk ultrasound. I could see her jumping all over the place and she crossed her legs and tilted her little nose up! I just knew she was a girl! It was really emotional for me to see her movement on the screen because I had previously had a 6wk miscarriage and thought it was way to soon to have a viable pregnancy. I also have a video of my 21wk ultrasound and we caught her yawning! Cutest thing ever!
Thanks for this thread, this is awesome!!! There really are so many great moments! Hearing her heartbeat for the first time, feeling her first kick, finding out the sex of the baby, feeling her hiccup, shopping for clothes, when my husband jumps when the baby kicks because he thinks he's putting to much pressure on her (even though I tell him he's not lol) and most of all having my husband talk to her every night and kiss my belly!!!
I loved my 20 week ultrasound to see her looking like a baby! The technician even commented on her toes, one being longer than the other, and those are my husband's feet! Another good memory I have actually stemmed from something really traumatic for me. I ended up being hospitalized at 32 weeks for kindey infections and I was scared, alone and in pain (DH is deployed). My husband was granted emergency leave and when I saw him walk through the door at the hospital with all his bags, he just grinned, walked over to me, kissed me and my belly and said "It's ok, I'm here and we're going to get through this." He was a complete lifesaver through IVs and fevers and catheters and all my crying. It really solidified what a great birth partner, husband and father he will be. Sometimes you've got to see the light through the darkness!
My by far favorite memory was when I saw my little man for the first time. I had a really bad problem with my intestines at the end of August where my whole system shut down and just stopped working and a piece of my intestines actually twisted itself off. Talk about pain! Well I had xray after xray and tons of strong pain medicines. So much medicine that I actually stopped breathing at one point. I was supposed to be life flighted to little rock arkansas but due to a big gang fight I had to ride 2 hours in an ambulance.
Anyways, I didn't know i was pregnant. They did tests and stuff but never said I was or wasnt. But I had this feeling like I was and I was so scared that maybe this was me losing the baby.
So when I went to the bathroom one day about 2 weeks later and I decided to ask my (now ex fiance....) to go get me some tests. I took one and it was instantly positive! I took two more the next day and they said "3+". I was so shocked and also scared because of all the stuff that happened.
I set an appointment to see my normal gyno and I told him I took 3 tests and they were all positive. So he took me and did an ultrasound to see and BAM !! On the screen I saw my little boy ♡ he was 10.5 weeks! I I thought he was just going to be a little dot on the screen! I almost died! He was kicking and punching and doing all kinds of crazy things! Oh my word I've never been so in love and I've never been happier ♡ i can't even being to explain how amazing it was to know he was ok! But the doctor was concerned with his intestines for awhile he later said he is absolutely perfect ♡♡♡♡♡♡ 5 more days til I meet my little love!
Favorite moment was hubby getting to feel LO punch for the first time. I'm a stm and he meet my son when he was 9 so this is his first baby baby. It was magical watching him light up with the movements. Even at 38 weeks he still lights up when LO kicks him. He's very excited.
Some of my favorite memories: hearing the heart beat for the first time, seeing my baby on the ultrasound, finding out the gender, seeing how excited my little girl has been for us to have a baby, and feeling her move.
Being a FTM, my favorite memory was feeling the baby kick for the first time with my husband. I had felt slight movements but never really caught them while my husband was around and they weren't very strong. This time, my husband and I were sitting on the couch talking and I grabbed his hand and we both felt her kick our palms. Hard. Instantly tears came to both of our eyes and I will never forget the look on his face. It was such a beautiful moment.
Most of my favourite moments are caught on film so I can see again forever when I told my mum she was going to me a grandma and when we told DH parents that they we were pregnant we flew up to north qld and it was so nice and relaxing.
A bitter sweet moment I will always remember... Even though we planned her when I found out I was pregnant I started questioning if this was a good idea and if I was ready then at 8 weeks I experienced quite a bit of bleeding. It wasn't like spotting it was a splash that covered everything and I drove home crying upset as I thought I had a miscarriage and it was the worst moment of my life. I told DH and he took me to the hospital and I had tests done then I had a ultrasound and when I seen her I knew this was the right time and I was ready and I have never questioned my decision since.
I have so many favorite moments throughout this pregnancy! Before I could feel her moving around I bought a Doppler just so I could hear her heartbeat and make sure she was still there. I had a very scary experience in my 1st trimester that made me think baby wasn't going to make it and I'm so grateful and feel so blessed that she did and listening to that heartbeat anytime I wanted helped me get through that tough time!
It was amazing getting the 4D scan done at 29 weeks and seeing her nose and her little lips she had her hand on her head and had a little smirk on her face in one of the pics she was the cutest thing and my heart melted!
I love how much closer my husband and I have gotten throughout this pregnancy he's so excited and with us both being first time parents I just can't wait to see how much he loves his baby girl because he already loves her so much and hasn't even met her yet. He's been amazing and I love knowing what a great father he's going to be!
For me.... Finally getting the BFP! And then at 9 weeks telling my mom she was getting her 7th grandchild while she was feeling lousy from chemo... Was so happy to make her smile
Finding out we are having a healthy baby boy was by the far the greatest moment of this pregnancy . Actually, make that one of the best moments of my life!
For me finding out that we were pregnant was a wonderful surprise. But so far the best was today finding out that our little has reached 5lbs 10oz at 36 wk3days. It's been a tough pregnancy with our little one having a heart condition and knowing he/she will need surgery around 4-6months. Possible other issues could come wi th this condition as well. So when our lo had been measuring small at each appt we were even more concerned. Today was a milestone! And we finally were able to be happy when leaving an appt. Thanks for this thread its great to hear eveyones special moment's.
My favorite moments have been the look in hubby's face when we found out it was a boy, how excited he was the first time he got to feel the baby move, and having my hubby falling asleep cuddling with my belly as little man squirms around.
Tearing up you guys. I'm such a baby with these hormones. So many favorites. I'm gonna miss being pregnant I know it, no matter how much I complain. There's no greater feeling than a squirming baby in your belly and this Ftm will never forget the first time I felt her move, or the first time her daddy felt her move and how much happiness and love she has already brought in to my life. My 3d ultrasound at 28 weeks was memorable too I wish I had my family's commentary on my dvd of it.
My favourite moment was arriving home late at night after our two week road trip/elopement and taking a pregnancy test before doing any unpacking and having it come up positive I felt warm all over There have been other amazing moments along the way, but that was my favourite
My favorites (can't pick just one!) 1. After years of fertility problems and fears it would never happen, having the nurse confirm over the phone I was pregnant a week after transfer. 2. Two weeks later hearing the heartbeat and being able to play the video of it that night for DH. 3. Finding out I'm having a GIRL I laughed and cried 4. Having my husband home for Xmas after him traveling for work for several months and having him open his gift from our Aria, a Doppler, and using it right away to listen to his baby... His eyes and expression!!! 5. Having this time when it is just us, late at night, feeling her move and having our own little world...I'm so, so happy!!
When we saw him for the first time even though I'd had a small bleed, j was so relived he was okay. Then when we found out he was a boy. And one of my favourites is when my partner first felt him properly kick
So many moments. Most great, a few weird ones. Telling our 5yr old that he would be a big brother for sure tops things. His world was rocked in a good way. watching him grow to love his brother so much already has been such a gift. Also letting him announce to our whole entire extended family...even my husband and I, that baby is a boy. It was amazing to let him take on that job and he was so proud....and a little shocked because he was sure his brother was going to be a girl. Also telling my class of 1st and 2nd graders and growing with them. Some who don't have siblings almost seem weirded out by my belly and others love to touch and talk to it. They often call him by name and draw him pictures. is sweet how invested some are almost as though this will be their sibling.
My one weird moment that I can think of is telling a group of former students that I was pregnant and one of them (3rd grader) announcing to the group that he knew how babies came out...eyes got wide and wispers started. One of those moments when you wish your students would go back to imagining you as this being that has no life and lives at the school. It was awkward to say the least.
One of the first people I told was my 9 year old brother. We were playing video games online and I asked him "how would you feel about being an uncle?" "I dunno. Good I guess." "Would you rather have a niece or nephew?" "I dunno."(he's distracted by the game) "We'll do you think it would be fun to be an uncle?" "Why are you asking me all these stupid uncle questions?!?" That was when my dad overheard and started freaking out. He explained to my bro what I was trying to tell him. My dad was ecstatic and my little brother was like "oh that's cool!"
My favorite moment was when my SO and I heard her heartbeat for the first time. I thought he was going to faint. I cried for 5 minutes. Crying now thinking about it actually haha.
I have 2. The first is when I created a game to make my daughters search for clues to find out if they were going to have a sister or a brother. It took them 2 hours and they finally figured it out it was priceless watching them run from one clue to the next. My second favorite pregnancy memory is when I called my SO from labor and delivery when I went into preterm labor. He is a first time dad and is terrified. When he came into the hospital room he broke down in front of his friend and started crying saying it was too early I am not ready!!!!!! He didn't know they had already stopped my labor. I expect him to pass out during the birth
So many moments.....telling DH I was pregnant and seeing him be all gitty and smiling all day, hearing her HB for the first time at 12 weeks and realizing that this is really happening, my 20 week ultrasound when we saw her moving all over the place and found out she is healthy, feeling her move for the first time and then DH feeling her kick him, every time I feel her hiccup, now feeling her push a foot out and react to my tapping my belly. Can't wait to meet this precious little girl!
My favorite memory was just sitting there watching the pregnancy test show positive!!!! I had such a rush of love and happiness that my little girl was going to have a sibling!
