Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA)

I recently learned my 6 week old baby girl has PDA. After two visits the pediatric cardiologist we've seen has recommended a catheter procedure to close the opening. I am terrified and worried!!! I have researched the condition a lot but can't find much info on how invasive and risky the catheter procedure is, or I can't find any parents who have first hand knowledge of this situation. Does anyone else here have an infant with PDA or has had this procedure done?? Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

Re: Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA)

  • My daughter had a PDA and an atrial septal defect. Hers were left alone and closed at about a year old. I don't think most Drs like to leave pda's alone like that very often though. She is now a very healthy, spunky almost 6 year old. There's a group of heart moms on Fb- send me a pm and I will try to add you.
